Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the room last minute. The price was good and although the room was small, it was perfectly adequate for us. It was lovely and warm, comfortable and immaculately clean. The Wateredge Inn is lovely, all the staff are friendly and welcoming, they made us feel very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Close enough for an easy stroll into Ambleside. Can’t wait to stay again.

Firstly the staff were all lovely and the breakfast choice excellent. Our only gripes were working out where to check in at the bar across the road and having to wait while the attendant finished pulling pints before we were attended to, and an annoying fore door slamming shut outside our bedroom door which ruined our sleep. A little more polish and attention to the finer detail and this place will be really good. I'd try them again for certain.

We checked in last night. The room was NOTHING LIKE the website. We were to have a king sized bed -but what we got was a double, there was supposed to be a safe - there wasn’t one and we paid extra for a room with a verandah or balcony and didn’t get one. The room was described as “spacious” however it was SO small you could barely move around in it ( and I am only five feet tall)… There are no phones, the room was stuffy and cramped.

This is our 10th visit to an Inn Collection inn and , on the whole, Wateredge is up here with the best of them, in most respects. The location was superb, the room was superb, breakfast was superb and the staff were, as in all other Inn Collection inns, efficient , hardworking and friendly. However, there were two issues that quite concerned us: 1) the quantity (not the quality) of the restaurant food. I paid over £20 for one trout fillet with just a few potatoes and peas and a cheese plate ( it should have been called a biscuit plate!) , with barely 3 slices of cheese, at £13.50 (at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!!) , and 2) the bar prices which are verging on the extortionate- £13.50 for a pint of beer and a glass of wine is to my mind unnecessary! We have always enjoyed our stays at The Inn Collection, and hope for many more!, but please be careful. Do not waste all the hard work you have done over recent years by scrimping on food and overcharging at the bar!

A really good unpretentious hotel sat in the edge of Windermere with lots of room for guests to sit and watch the water. Probably the best staff we've ever come across at a hotel who are all try to make your stay as pleasant as possible! We'll be back !

We stayed in the Windermere Rooms across the road from the Wateredge Inn. A lovely place and very comfortable. We ate in the hotel on the 1st evening and it was excellent food, service and value. Breakfast was superb as well. The hotel is very well located literally opposite the lake cruise jetty. If we come back to Ambleside then we will definitely stay here again.

Excellent location and a wonderful room. Located just 15 minutes walk to town centre with a quiet and peaceful stay. We had a very pleasant and friendly welcome at check in and check out. No complaints whatsoever and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great stay . First trip away with our dog, had great food and good nights sleep. Stayed in the Windermere rooms , location of room is great for dogs, ground floor so it’s easy to take the dog out for his toilet time and quiet enough not to disturb a puppy with all new sounds. Negative was the room real small. Door just about opened onto bed so only one in at a time , table in chair in front of cupboard so kept having to move and could of done with some form of coat hanger and a boot tray for our wet boots. The negatives probably not sort the loss of full star and some of our niggles about the room might have been helped if we didn’t have as much stuff but our first trip like this.
