the old vicarage is a great building in the centre of ambleside, it offers friendly, clean and homely accomodation for a fair price. We chose it as a dog friendly b&b after reading reviews on tripadvisor and were not disapointed. A great bonus is the swimming pool and hot tub to ease those aching limbs after a day on the... more

My boyfirend and I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the the old vicarage at Ambleside and i will certainly be returning!! When we arrived there was the owner waiting to greet us and help us with our bags. He was so welcoming and even made a cup of coffee for us in the lounge so... more

Probably the most hospitable place we have stayed. The owners and staff could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. The family room is very spacious with a beautiful bathroom. It has a jacuzzi style bath and large shower cubicle. The complimentary dressing gowns and slippers were ideal for use in the pool area which is very... more

We have been visiting the Old Vicarage in Ambleside since 2001. We started by going for a long weekend and gradually have extended our visits to a full week. We arrived home today after our second week long stay this year. Yes, we could probably travel abroad cheaper but that's not the kind of holiday we enjoy. Please do not... more

Had fantastic 4 nights here. (2 adults and one 6 yr old) Perfect in every way. Initially, a bit wary given one or two indifferent reviews in this site. Fear not ! Converted Vicarage, this B+B has a great Location, just 100yds from Ambleside centre on top of a hill, just far enough from main road but v. easy walking... more

We recently had a weekend stay here and was very disappointed! It was in need of a good clean and update! The ensuite was damp, the shower head needed a good clean. You do not expect to find industrial soap and toilet roll dispensers in a guest house!!! The carpets were full of dog hairs, I don't recommend staying anywhere... more

Just got back from 'The Old Vicarage' Ambleside. Location was good which was right in the centre for restaurants, bars and shops. We found the guest house peaceful and tranquil. Our room was large however, ensuite needed refurbishing. Enjoyed the cooked english breakfasts but otherwise very little choice. Received a good welcome complimented with a pot of tea but no... more

Only stayed one night with my family of four on our way though the Lake District. The outside of the guest house is beautiful, it looks like an old church with an abundance of flowers. The interior is Victorian which after staying in other guest houses that opt for modern furnishings, the victorian style makes it look old and drab.... more
