Booked on the basis of prior good reviews plus it had a spa (essential criteria for the other half for this break!). The location is lovely and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful - shame about the hotel mind you. Stayed in one of the 4 posters whcih was supposed to be a luxury room - sorry but nothing like!... more

Langdale hotel is hidden away in a stunning, peaceful location, great for enjoying the countryside but conveniently located with many attractions, such as Lake WIndermere, only a short distance away. The room was comfortable, clean and modern. Purdy's Restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere, excellent food served by friendy staff and the wine was great too! There is also a traditional... more

This hotel is a real find in the lakes, tucked away behind Ambleside and Grasmere in a hidden like valley. We stayed for only one night in a signature room, which was very stylish and boutique hotel like, loved the funky wardrobe and TV units and comfortable bed with egyptian cotton linen. Only problem was the rooms are in an... more

My husband booked this for a romantic getaway as the kids were visiting grandparents. I had a bad feeling when I rang the hotel to confirm the time of the spa treatments I had booked - rude receptionist reluctantly put me through to the spa. On arrival the receptionist handed our keys over and told us our rooms were over... more

We stayed in a lodge for a week in mid-July. Really liked the accomodation - well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool looks good and the changing rooms are very clean, however the floor of the pool has a very strange texture - I can only describe it as sandpaper-like. Younger daughter said it hurt her feet and refused to... more

Great location and pretty setting in the lakes. However, over priced for quality of hotel, we upgraded our room but that just meant it was larger, no extra's, in fact family in a smaller room had better facilities eg fridge! Also, ignore refernces to air conditioning, none in the bedrooms and only spotted in one or two main areas/bars The... more

We booked this hotel as we loved the new Signature Rooms plus it had the spa available as well. We couldnt check into the room until 3.00pm, I was booked into the Spa for treatments at 1.00pm. Reception looked after our bags. My husband went to Wainwrights to sample the beer, lovely old pub. Went back to reception where we... more

It’s really strange to be writing a poor review for this place as I’ve stayed here numerous times over the past 7 years for both pleasure and business. Initially I loved this place and stayed at least twice a year with my wife and on a couple of occasions even brought the kids. The location is perfect, especially out of... more

We wanted a king bed and double spa for our wedding night. They put champagne in our room on ice for when we arrived. The pool, sauna, hot tub facilities were great. The good points: It's air conditioned, good food, nice surrounding area, clean. I enjoyed the lounge area. Bad points: The "king" bed was two twins pushed together. One... more
