Great base for a variety of walks. There is nothing better after a days walking to return and be greeted by friendly staff with a pint by the roaring fire. There is a good choice of food to have in the evening either fine dining in restaurant or bar food. Whilst talking of food the breakfast is superb. The views... more

We loved our recent stay at the Eltermere Inn. It is a family-run inn, with a cosy, relaxed bar/eating area, and a more formal dining room. There is also loads of lounge space to relax in, if the weather is wet. The food is fantastic: we enjoyed our cooked breakfasts, but the highlight was dinner: delicious roast pork belly, braised... more

Came on here to leave a review after a fabulous 2 night stay with my husband. I don't think I'm reading about the same people in some of the negative reviews. Both the owners and manager were fantastic hosts and made us feel most welcome. The food is absolutely fantastic! We had dinner bed and breakfast booked but we also... more

on arrival to this hotel i drove in and drove out again nothing like on the web sight. Booked 3 rooms 1 ok ,1 with no heating, and 1 still stuck in the 1970"s with damp patch over the bed, no shower and full of flies. After complaing to the receptionist 4 times the Manager and owner still did not... more

We booked for 2 nights due to the enticing internet website for the hotel. What could one ask for.. Molton Brown toiletries. There were none in their outdated rooms which reminded me of my nans room in the 1970's. We complained about the large patch of damp in our room & requested another room or a reduced rate. Neither the... more

We originally booked 4 nights but left after 2. The hotel is set in lovely grounds close to Elterwater so there are good walks from the doorstep. The lounges, bar area and restaurant have been refurbished and are of a high standard, however the same cannot be said about the 2 bedrooms that we stayed in. We had booked a... more

My fiancee and I have just returned from a wonderful weekend at this B & B, which, despite some reviews to the contrary, we found to be of good value, particularly compared with other disappointing, outdated and stuffy accommodation in the Lakes. Admittedly our room was in need of updating however we were told that some of the rooms had... more

Stayed for the weekend with a group of friends and adored it. The hotel is run by a nice family who all seem to be involved with running the place, and were all very accommodating to our requests. The food was the highlight, with the two meals we had being as good as anything we've ever eaten in some of... more

We stumbled upon this place whilst walking. Popping in to 'use the facilities' we decided to stay for a cream tea and glad we did. Wonderfully enjoyable having it in the lounge. The next day, after tiring of the looking at poor value restaurants in Ambleside we decided to return to Eltermere where we enjoyed a wonderful meal in a... more
