The date i have wrote is wrong, I was actually really close to this place, and had the great experience of living there. For two and a half years. It saddens me a lot to see all the terrible comments that have been wrote on this site, what an awful shame! The pub has so much potential, and with a... more

My partner and I stayed at Kirkstone for 2 nights in early August. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff at the Inn were very friendly and helpful. The local food and the ale they serve was of a good quality and the new chef is a scream. As Richard said in his response to another review Rome was not built... more

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the stay perfect for us. Richard and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and warm at night. The breakfast was one of the best we have tasted in the Lakes. We would definately book here again in the future. Best of luck to the new... more

We had a wonderful time. The location was great, the staff couldn't have been friendlier, and that includes the owner and his dog, and more helpful, they even lent us a walking map for the area. The food was good and there was plenty of it. If I come back to this part of the world again I will certainly... more

Having driven through driving rain and swirling fog, racing from the car park to avoid a soaking, we arrived here feeling chilly and hungry, and generally in need of warming up. We arrived at 3.03pm but were told they stopped serving food at 3.00pm. Oh, that's a shame... Disappointed, we bought some crisps and peanuts and settled down with a... more

I would highly recommend this place. It is the perfect 'get away from the hustle and bustle'. Shame the weather was so bad though. However, the pub is so cosy, log fires and candles. Good basic food and service with a smile. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Shower was good. Lots of tea, coffee, chocolate in the room... more

First time back after 4 years and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. An all new team of staff are now managing the pub and the place is buzzing with the excitement of new ideas and enthusiasm. The perfect spot to chill out and relax. No noisy neighbours, no loud music, no fruit machines, total peace and quiet! Bliss! Good luck to... more

This was my third stay at the Inn in the last two years. It has it's problems but for all that it's a great location and relatively cheap. My previous concerns are still evident to some extent. Firstly booking by phone; credit card details are still repeated back to you for all the bar to hear (or write down for... more
