the staff were friendly, and the food was nice. however, the room was very dated, and noisy as only single glazed windows. the decoration in the bedrooms, and corridors certainly need updating, especially as it costs £86 per night on a Friday B&B. I expected a more upto date contemporary feel to the hotel, and spent all night, redesigning the... more

I feel as if I was in a different hotel to the other reviewers! This hotel is central to Ambleside, across the road from the Salutation (where we had stayed for 4 nights previously) and I was appalled by the state of the place. Yes, it was friendly, but that's where it ended. The room was a tiny double, (3m... more

Stayed here for a weekend and thought we'd leave a review as we loved it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, our room was very pleasant, and we loved ambleside, the quaint pubs, and especially the hotel bar. We will be returning! more

The Queens Hotel extends a warm cosy welcome on a winter break. It is ideally situated on Ambleside main street, within walking distance of local restaurants, pubs and shops. Tiny problem .........parking, but we managed not too badly in December, although I would not like to try finding a parking space in the high summer season. We found the hotel... more

We arrived on Friday afternoon, 23/11/07, and were fortunate to be able to park directly in front of the Hotel. The Receptionist informed us of the situation regarding parking and the information was very much appreciated. We were given a parking time disc to display on our vehicle. Potential guests should be aware that you are only allowed 30 minutes... more

The Queens Hotel is situated right in the middle of Ambleside. I've stayed here twice with the family staying in twin and single rooms. Single rooms are very small and a bit cramped though the twin rooms are a good size. All rooms come equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, hairdrier etc. etc. You have to be lucky to get... more

My husband & I had the huge misfortune to stay at this disgraceful hotel on Friday night. We spend a lot of time in the Lakes but have never tried the Queens. It was a last minute booking & as i'd read some good things from other reviews. i thought it was worth the risk. The corridors are stifingly hot... more

I have just returned from a romantic break away with my boyfriend and stayed in a room with a four poster bed and a jacuzzi. There are plenty of good points about the hotel but a few not so good. When we arrived we checked in and went up to our room which was off the main residents lounge, which... more

Loved my stay in Queen's while I was in the Lake District. The rooms are clean and the location is just perfect. Right in the middle of Ambleside and a stone's throw from the lake. The restaurant serves great food, so we don't have to go out to eat. more

I have just returned from my second stay at the Queens Hotel in Ambleside, and I think I will continue returning. In short, I've fallen in love with the place. If you haven't been before, Ambleside is in the central region of the Lake District, an area home to some of the UK's most beautiful peaks, largest lakes, as well... more
