The location, the rooms were great. Friendly staff - do not know about the management as never met them and only saw them at night drinking and socialising with their "regulars". We read the reviews before going on holiday but thought "everyone is entitlted to their opinions" but wish now we had taken heed. I thought it odd that we... more

We stayed at Churchill's for two nights(Sun and Mon). It is centrally located in Ambleside. The entrance to the car park is VERY tight but is just wide enough to get down the narrow alleyway. There is an overflow carpark ,Just ask. We had a superior room. It was clean and fine for the £138 we paid for bed and... more

We arrived at the Churhill hotel on bank holiday monday for two nights. This hotel is fairly easy to find on the one way highstreet however the entrance to the car park is extremely tight and if you miss it you have to go all the way round the one way system again. The hotel does have a pub which... more

Didn't like paying in advance before even seeing our room Room supposed to be Superior double. Room was spotless, towels changed everyday. but the position of the room on the first floor totally spoilt what could have been a very relaxing stay. (Don't accept room 21 WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!) The noise from the disco, karaoke and late bar was unacceptable... more

Stayed here for the weekend, Fri - Sat, clean modern room, had no problem with noise as others had commented it was noisy, yes it is a lively pub in the evenings as we were on the top floor was not a problem. The room was very warm though, breakfast was great with fruit juice cereal and full english, staff... more

Rooms are clean, roomy and nicely decorated. Breakfast quality and service were excellent. Yes, the car park is tight and not for SUV owners, but who cares about them they don't care about anyone else right? The location is great for walking to restaurants and other pubs and shops. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being a pub means up... more

my partner and i stayed in this place with some friends of ours in early January hoping that the reviews we read after booking it were not true!! first of all we are not particularly fussy people, being fairly young i am used to staying in youth hostels, and low budget hotels. but my partner forked out a little extra... more

We were a little nervous after reading some of the reviews but all I can think is that some people have ridiculous standards or no tolerance of other people. The hotel car park was a little tricky and we missed it first time round the one way, I was a little nervous driving down the alley (at the side of... more

Access to carpark is narrow, never fit a 4x4. No lift, 3 floors, nice and quiet on top floor, staff nice, helpful and polite, good service, only had breakfast there but very nice. It is more of a pub with rooms and I did think it was expensive for 3 star, but all accomodation in the Lakes is expensive. Found... more

If you do not like being charged for your entire stay at check-in, this may not be the place for you. It’s a bizarre (and slightly insulting) policy to charge up-front and for this reason (and only this reason) I will not go back again. The Churchill is more of a pub with rooms than a hotel with a bar.... more
