This is a great place to stay within walking distance of Ambleside main street. Tim has a lively personality and makes you feel very welcome. The "Haven Cottage" experience has something above many B&Bs with home-made cakes on arrival, board games in the sitting room, and puzzles over breakfast. The house itself has a few surprises, as Tim would be... more

A perfect location to ambelside full of places to eat and ideal fro visiting all around the lakes. The B n B is very clean, comfy, and the owners offer you lots of advice on the area, with local walks, where to eat, and pride themselves on their home made cooking for breakfast and afternoon cakes. You will not be... more

Had family over from abroad and were showing them around the UK. We unfortunately could only stay for one night in the Lake District. Tim kindly took a booking for one night only (unusual for B&Bs to do this) and took great care of us while we stayed there. Rooms were clean and well decorated; the breakfast was super even... more

Having never been to the Lake District, deciding on where to stay was difficult to say the least. Ambleside is a small town right in the middle of the Lake District and ideal for using as a base for your stay. It's not far from Windermere and keeps you away from the annoying "day trip tourists"! The main part of... more

A lovely place to stay, a few minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside. Very friendly owners. Nothing was too much. Gorgeous free homemade tea and cakes on arrival especially the Lemon Drizzle Cake. The breakfast was great, home made, locally sourced or free trade produce. The rooms were comfortable, cosy, clean, with a quality firm bed. The only downside... more

This is a really great B&B, which is made all the better by the owners and their wonderful food and sense of humour. The location is very handy with only a 3 minute walk into the centre of Ambleside; and although it is on the main road there was not much traffic noise, and as it was on the outskirts... more

We wanted to stay for one night only in the Lakes, but found most hotels and B&B's would only do two nights. Stumbled across Haven Cottage on a internet search and spoke with the owners who said no problem, but would be a 10% surcharge for 1 night stay. As only £35 per head, this was no problem at all.... more

I stayed at this B&B for two nights this week, and would like to recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in Ambleside. The B&B is just on the outskirts of Ambleside, ideally situated for walking into the town and for scenic walks. Tim & Claire the owners were extremely friendly, offering tea and cake on arrival. They were very... more
