Went into hotel for bar meal and waited 25 mins for service even though there was empty tables. I spoke to 3 different members of staff who took note of our table but never came to take order. I eventually spoke to the manager at bar who shouted on a waitress, she arrived at table with no appologe for delay... more

stayed for just one night family room - double bed & single bed - £75 for mum dad and son very reasonable - room spacious with everything you need great to find somewhere to stay with own car park in our favourite part of south lakeland more

Lovely place, friendly happy staff, nice location. Prices very reasonable. Starters of mushroom pepper pots were very nice. Main courses were equally enjoyable however I had ordered my steak to be cooked medium-rare, and my steak arrived with a pulse! Luckily I do not mind eating it like this. Service was exceptionally fast. more

Good basic bed and breakfast. Book Room 1, at £70 B&B,it is huge and looks down the high street, and has seats on a raised platform to watch the world go by. Good quality, reasonably priced evening meal. Large breakfast featuring 2 of everything. Service very friendly and quick. more

My wife and I had a 2 night stay here on weekend of 27th January along with another couple. The hotel staff were extemely friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was ensuite and was large and very clean, we had room 6 which over looked the hotels carpark. The towels were changed each day .The breakfast was very good and plentiful.... more

The White Lion is well situated in Ambleside main street. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and immaculate. Although all rooms are directly above a busy pub / restaurant, the noise from below is not heard upstairs. The breakfasts are enormous, double the quantity one normally expects.
