Just back after a stay at the Black Bull Inn in Coniston. All i can say is that the staff are wonderful particuarly the owners. Just returned from a wonderful weekend here. We were looking for a dog friendly pub as we own a Chocolate Labrador and this place exceeded our expectations! Arrived at the hotel soaking wet from a day's walking, and it was just what we needed. Comfortable room with much needed hot water in the bath and radiators. Real pull is the lovely beer which was well deserved and received after a long day on the Cumbria way! Food in the pub was good. more

I was looking for an old pub with good beer and better than basic accomodation with good walks nearby ... and I found all three. We chose the Black Bull in Coniston, we had one of the cottages at the back. Again, I am happy to recommend it and not just because they brew the wonderful Bluebird Bitter behind the pub.
