The hotel was lovely and warm, the dinner, bed & breakfast offer is worth staying in for the food was excellent. The rooms were very well appointed and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in for a very long time, better than home!! The service made you feel special even though we only stayed the one night.... more

Despite terrible weather for nearly the whole 4 night stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Oak Bank. The hotel is ideally situated in the lovely village of Grasmere - perfect for all types of walks & centrally positioned for visiting all that the lake district has to offer. We arrived in pouring rain (which had aparently been falling... more

We booked this hotel based on the trip advisor rating, the first time ever. The hotel is located on the northen edge of the village in one of the most wonderful valleys in the lakes, from Grasmere you have only a short drive to the best of Cumbria and you can also park the car and walk the local fells.... more

Thank You for reviewing Oak Bank Hotel. We would like to make a couple of points in relation to this review. Everybody will have a different perspective of space and what is small or large, this room having a 5' bed in it would be a superior room, I would hope even our standard rooms could not be described as...

Over the years we have stayed in about a dozen hotels in the Lakes and would rate Oak Bank top for value for money. By no means super luxury but comfortable, friendly staff and excellent food. My only complaint was that the central heating in the room resulted in a slight humming noise. When I was 20 I would probably... more

My wife and I stayed for two nights midweek for a short break. As my wife was pregnant and just wanted to 'chill' this was, literally, just what the doctor ordered. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis in a superior room. The food for our two nights was very good with a good selection on the menu... more

Interesting menu but some courses were cold and we do not feel the food was value for money. There was inconsistency with the courses, some were better than others but some had cold plates and seemed to be "jazzed up" with green beans (when really there was not much else going on on the plate! Food was over priced for... more

We need have had no worries:- i) The welcome was warm and professional. ii) The room was big, clean and comfortable with good facilities iii) The food was excellent and there was a reasonable and very... more

We have recently enjoyed a three night stay at the Oak Bank with our son, meeting friends' and their family as part of a trip to celebrate our son's birthday. Both of the owners went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, particularly for the three children. We had a birthday cake but we did... more

Where do I start? The arrival was quite promising as the lady owner was very pleasant to all of us and especially to the children. However the same could not be said of her husband who was unfriendly and seemed to have the attitude that he was doing us a favour letting us stay rather than being paid guests. When... more

This review has been written by one lady who stayed at Oak Bank for one Sunday night at the end of July. There was a party of 6 consisting of two parents of two daughters and four young children belonging to the daughters. The group arrived in the bar lounge at mixed times between 7.30 and 7.45pm, the children were...

Have stayed in lots of hotels in Grasmere and the surrounding area this is easily the best hotel in Grasmere. Clean, cosy, friendly with staff that are really helpful. The rooms are not palatial but they are clean and well furnished. The food is excellent and impeccably presented. I don't know how the owners Glynnis and Simon can deliver such... more
