Best BED & Veiw of all of Grasmere in room 10 on my 33 anniversary. Loved having hot coffee , fried eggs , bacon , juice every morning and then taking off on a hike , visiting " Wordsworth house " and getting Gingerbread at "Sarah Nelson's ginger bread shop " . This place is like a magical dream out... More

Stayed for a week in Grasmere from 23/3/2013 not at this Hotel but self catering just around the corner at Beck Allens (would recommend) Eating out in Grasmere is much more expensive than say Ambleside & Bownes. We did not find a good old English pub in the village to eat at but ash cottage came the closest. The decor... More

Visited recently with friends. We all had a meal but the menu was limited to say the least. We all had different dishes which were OK but nothing spectacular. Best described as normal pub grub. The establishment does have a good selection of draught beers and lager. Whilst in the premises there was live entertainment on which consisted of a... More

Only went in here for dinner so can't rate the hotel but the food was excellent and far better that the lamb inn over the road. I had shrimps on a toasted crumpet for a starter and was well presented and very tasty, for main courses I had a delicious wild boar cutlet which was exceptional, and my girlfriend went... More

Popped in the restaurant to have some breaded chicken that we had before on another visit, but the menu had changed, i ordered the homemade steak and ale pie and was blown away by how good it was. Tender meat that melted in the mouth and the pie was jam packed too, absolutely fantastic. Well done chef!

We didn't stay in the hotel, just had a meal in the restaurant. It was the first place we walked into. We thought we'd have a drink to see what it was like inside first. You could eat in the main bar with bar meals but we noticed there was a more formal restaurant through some glass double doors at... More

One dreary September day my wife and I took our two dear children to meet relatives in this beautiful part of the world, an area in which I had spent so much of my youth but have not returned to for sadly many years. We met at the Travel Lodge opposite Ash cottage and spent a lovely family day there... More

Just returned from our third stay at Ash Cottage. This hotel is very friendly and relaxed with lovely rooms and good staff. Very clean and modern with excellent entertainment on Saturday evenings. The prices are reasonable and the hotel is in the centre of the village. We look forward to our next stay.

Just returned from a 5 days' stay at Ash Cottage. When I was shown my room, it was love at first sight for me! Furnished with taste, comfortable, clean; everything one can wish for. Modern and well equippped bathroom. Very good quality for money. As a solo traveller it is not always easy to find pleasant accommodation, and I am... More
