We tried to find a place in this area for a few hours that day however we couldn't find anything interesting as all was either booked or they were expecting us to book for 2 nights. We went back to Kendal and Union Tavern was he first where we went and asked for a bedroom. Staff were very pleasant and... More

The union was basic, clean and warm, ideally situated to get into town about 4 min walk, The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub had a great atmosphere and the regulars made us feel welcome as soon as we walked through the doorm the night we stayed there was an artist on and everybody was either singing or... More

This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for! If you are looking for a really cheap place to stay and you don't mind the run down and to be quite frank not very clean room's, then this is the place! The room looked like it hadn't seen a hoover in ages and the bathroom was not... More

We arrived quite late in Kendal, Cumbria and the first B&B we saw was The Union Public House on Stricklandgate. Although the exterior appeared in need of a repaint, once we were in the room our views altered somewhat. The room was basic with a bath/shower room / toilet, a double bed, 1 chair, kettle and tv... the fact that... More

We recently stayed at the Union Tavern and was everything we expected for the very low price we paid. The rooms were ok, if a little dated. The common areas smelt of smoke. The staff were very friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the cooked English breakfast was in the morning. The rooms are above a bar,... More

For what we paid to stay two nights in the lake district there really can be no negative feedback and even if we had paid more I would still have been happy. The staff were friendly and made our stay very welcoming and we wanted for nothing. The locals were all very friendly and although the parking is relatively small... More

Maureen and Tom were on holiday and place being looked after by someone else. Ullswater Room, was dirty, had a used ashtray in the bathroom and smelled badly of stale smoke, cigarette butts outside the window on the fire escape. Bed linen soiled and also stank of smoke, and my husband has asthma, and we dont smoke. Would have slept... More

If you are epecting luxury spacious rooms in the latest decor, then this isn't the place for you. If you want a cheap and friendly B+B then it is! Staff were friendly, pub opens until very late!! The bathroom is a little squashed, but apart from that it was a good stay.
