We stayed with our five and two year old boys and all were very pleased. The family room was clean, quiet, spacious and had a bath (our boys hate showers). The menu was locally sourced and suitable for all. The boys enjoyed home made beef burgers cooked to perfection, just pink while we enjoyed Scottish scallops, haggis, wonderful local lamb.... more

The Middle Ruddings Country Inn and Restaurant is a bed and breakfast, restaurant and local pub. Andy, Liz and all the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. When we saw they advertised a novel by a local author, we enquired about it and they arranged for us to get a signed copy. Our room, facing the back of the hotel,... more

We went with friends on a walking holiday. The welcome and service throughout our stay was excellent. The locally sourced food was of a high standard, the only problem being one of choice. We are already debating what to have on our next visit.Real ale or pleasant wine complemented our stay.To sum up,a very relaxing place to spend time and recharge batteries. more

Saw the good reviews here and booked expecting a friendly and comfortable country inn as a base for a couple of nights. Was delighted with the welcome - so lovely to stay where the hosts clearly love what they do and do so well - a pleasure to meet them. Our lively little boys were made very welcome - the... more

Stayed here as part of a small walking party. The twin room was more than adequate. Clean, well equipped with a very welcome bath. The restaurant was excellent. Locally sourced ingredients. (The local venison, (red deer), was so good that I have to confess to having it three nights in a row). All real ales were also locally sourced from... more

Having just returned from a 3 day/2 night break in the Lakes, I felt compelled to write a review about the hotel Middle Ruddings. It is a beautiful very friendly family run hotel and being able to take dogs too made it all the more special. The welcome we received was very friendly and we were soon shown to our... more

We stayed at the Middle Ruddlings for 3 nights during July and we would thoroughly recommend it. The room was clean and large enough for my husband and I and our 2 children. The breakfasts were fantastic. A great choice and fresh local produce. The owners were friendly and very accommodating to their guests needs. The hotel is in an... more

A great place to stay with dogs in tow! Rooms are nice and large in size. Food was far better than expected (and locally sourced). I really enjoyed my stay here mainly due to the excellent choice of ales, beers and ciders available. Don't let the fact that it is dog friendly put none-dog lovers off, as every effort is... more

Had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. Lovely food and welcoming bar. Lovely location. Owners and staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for us. Had a two day break with two boys aged 13 and 10. Would recommend this hotel as being very child friendly. Only critisism would be the traffic noise at front of hotel. However... more
