We were told of this lovely place by a friend of my partner and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Met by the lovely Ailsa and we were shown around the house and felt immediately at home, the layout of the house is classic and is tastefully decorated, incredibly clean and comfortable and far, far better than your average... We first stayed at Barton Hall in 2006, hiring the hall for our Wedding Party and had such a fabulous time. We continually return because we are always made to feel so welcome and the accommodation is gorgeous, spacious and just fabulous! The fact that we can also self cater is a huge benefit enabling us to hike all day... More

At first, entering Barton Hall feels like stepping back a century into the past. Thankfully though, all the charming old-fashoned features like Victorian-era baths and toilets have been preserved and maintained in good condition, and the heating and hot water systems function with reassuringly modern efficiency. It's all rather delightful. The attic room we had was fairly basic, yet adequately... More

I booked this at short notice as a stop off on the way back from Scotland and what a find it was. Absolutely beautiful house and garden. The rooms are immaculate and the staff so friendly. They were happy to accommodate our 14 week old puppy. We will definitely return as this is one of the best B and Bs... More

We came here 11 years ago when we didn't have kids. Now we have, we thought we'd come back and show them the walks and friendliness of the lakes and of ailsa and Martin at Barton hall. Old fashioned , yes, but in the best sort of way. Lovely roll-top baths , a superb breakfast. Some lovely pubs nearby.

A lovely country house full of character and traditional features. Dog friendly. Ailsa, Robert and the housekeeping staff are very welcoming and attentive. The house is spotlessly clean. The bedroom was luxurious, the 4 poster bed had the highest and most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. (Those of limited mobility may struggle to climb onto the bed). The bathroom... More

Having stayed before I was looking forward to the experience . Wonderful bedroom, amazingly comfortable mattress, clean warm house, welcoming staff . Fresh milk for tea and use of a guest kitchen was very good. For a high quality and expensive B and B, the serving of poor quality produce in the cooked breakfast was disappointing. I also object to being... More

This was our first visit to Barton Hall. The wife and I were booked into the Victorian Yellow room for three nights. What a very pleasurable experience it was as well. The tester bed was out of this world with a really comfortable mattress. No roll together, no lumps and bumps, no going up and down everytime one of us... More
