If you haven't already been then this is the perfect place to visit! Not only are the local views spectacular but the hotel itself is a lovely retreat to come back to. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and welcoming . . you feel you can ask them anything! The food is outstanding .... more

As a U3A Travel group we visit many places and stay in a variety of hotels. The Glenridding Hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The management and staff were friendly, efficient and accommodating. Porterage was provided and gratefully accepted. We had 16 single rooms, 7 twin rooms and 5 double rooms half board for 4 nights. There was not one... more

Me and my wife and our dog stayed here on a 3 night package and we had a fantastic time. I admit that the rooms could do with a refurbishment but at the end of the day, it is only somewhere to fall asleep at night and have a hearty breakfast in the morning. The hotel is fantastically located on... more

Spent two nights at Glenridding Hotel on a wet and raining August weekend. the location of the hotel is splendid but the room was poor. Very soft uncomfortable bed and pokey small room badly in need of refurbishment and redecoration. Breakfast was poor quality food and probably sourced from the nearest cheap supermarket! All this for £120 a night! Expensive! more

we had a family room. this was a large room in 2 sections. (Room 41) Ample space for us and our 2 and 1/2 year old. Food in the restaurant either met or exceeded expectations every time. Room and some of the hotel fittings are looking a little tired in places - but everything still functions and is safe and... more

The wedges covered in some awful gooey cheese-the toasted sandwiches filled with the same pre packed stuff with no taste at all. And all for the sum of about £20. 1 bar staff on a busy August day and 1 chef-a long wait! Better going hungry. more

We booked in here at the last minute - literally having walked up Helvellyn and realising we were too tired to drive on so we were very pleased to be shown a lovely room with views over Ullswater at a very reasonable rate which included breakfast. We booked in for two nights and dined in the hotel on both evenings.... more

We stayed at this hotel as we were at a wedding next door (the inn on the lake). Having booked a family room, I expected much more space in the room than what we got - two single beds pushed together with bunk beds !! (However, our friends who also booked a family room got a room with another separate... more

I have just had a fantastic weekend at the Glenridding Hotel. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and very attentive. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The party I was in ate both nights we were there and we didn't have a bad meal (there were 6 of us!). I have stayed in a lot of hotels and I... more

As far as value for money, this hotel has to be one of the worst places we have ever stayed. We paid £150 a night for a room that was no better than a dormitory (room 45). The room faced the street with twin beds. There was barely any room to move around let alone store a suitcase! The noise... more
