We had been looking for a place to stay for one night enroute from London to Scotland and found this BandB on the web. We were met by Charlotte, the owner, and shown to a wonderfully comfortable room with superb views across from the bedroom window. It was blissfully quiet, a very large and comfortable bed and an excellent dinner... More

We first stayed 1 year ago, returning this summer because the experience had been so good. The location is wonderful (stunning views, quiet, but convenient for the M6). The house is fascinating - homely, full of character, old-fashioned but comfortable (we love the extra-long bath). The food is excellent and very generous. The warmth of the welcome is quite wonderful.

Thanks to all kinds of variabilities, I am now back at the helm in Cumbria full-time. So Kelleth Old Hall is available once again to B&B guests week-round, with me in charge. Charlotte More

Taking the previous reviews as a guide, I booked the Kelleth Old Hall for a stopover en route south and had arrranged with Charlotte to arrive about 1p.m in time to catch the semi-finals of Wimbledon. A charming and helpful lady; she said she actually worked in London and wouldn't be home to receive us, but Mark, a friend, would... More

As a result of Bob's comments, I have decided to accept weekend bookings only at Kelleth. This will mean a truly warm welcome to guests. The house he describes is not the one that we enjoy but is a place of great character and charm, very convenient for the M6 yet tucked away at the head of the Howgills. More

Nestled in the heart of the Lake District, Kelleth Old Hall really is something special if you like things a little bit different. Owner Charlotte's style is definitely quirky and she, and lovely helper Alicia, make you feel very much as if you are staying with friends rather than booking into a B&B. The house is fantastically situated for what... More

We really enjoyed our stay in this historic old house in the tiny village of Kelleth, quietly tucked away from the main road running through the valley below. Charlotte is a warm and generous host, opinionated and wryly witty, The dinner she cooked us the first night was such a feast we felt a bit guilty putting her to so... More

This wonderful old house has only been taking B&B guests for the last few weeks. We booked the day before we stayed when we decided to break our journey down the M6 from the Highlands. What attracted us first was its location, in the countryside, but just a few minutes from Tebay services on the M6, plus the fact that... More
