We recently had a three night stay at Glen Rothay, and as the title says, the good points outweigh the bad. The staff were welcoming friendly and pleasant, breakfast on all three mornings was excellent, the one evening meal we ate was also good. The bed was comfortable and the room large. It is a little tired in places, but... More

We stayed here on a 2 night Groupon deal. The hotel is well located for beautiful scenery and fabulous walks. We dined in the hotel during the stay and the food was fabulous, well cooked and extremely well presented. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the ullswater room overlooking the main road and views towards rydal... More

First of all, may I say that I do like the Glen Rothay Hotel and the Badger Bar, so most of what I say now is meant as constructive? For starters, the food and selection of real ales is very good indeed. Many people comment on how “homely” the hotel is, but, like at home, there are some small improvements... More

Just returned from a two night stay at the Glen Rothay and we had a fantastic time - Thank you to all the staff who made our stay enjoyable. We had the Kentmere room and it was lovely, cosy with a lot of character. It was lovely to relax in the huge bay window with the sun beating through watching... More

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend stay at the Glen Rothay. What friendly staff ! Stopped in the Rothay Room with the 4 poster bed. The hotel has such olde worlde charm with real character. Breakfast was excellent. Can highly recommend the salmon and pancakes. Saw the Badgers late one night. The pass for nearby Langdale Spa was a... More

We arrived and I'd pre booked the upgrade. The rydal room was ideal. Warm and comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee and local biscuits. Brilliant view, best nights sleep in awhile and awoke rested. Best breakfast cooked by Sergio that I've had in awhile. Food was excellent as were the staff. Added bonus was sharing the left overs with the badgers in... More

Called in to the Badger Bar for a drink and a bite to eat after a walk on April 2nd. Yes,it was busy and yes, it was full of spoilt and unruly children but it was the holidays after all and we did manage to get the last table in the place. However, the table was filthy from previous diners and... More

Dear Chas058, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review - it is appreciated. I am sorry your experience of the meal you had with us was not good and that the popularity of the place meant we were a little more chaotic than normal. Staffing in a remote spot like this is a really difficult one... More

We have just had a lovely meal at Badgers Bar, attached to Glen Rothay Hotel. I had whitebait from the special board, followed by home made chilli, rice & chips. I couldn't resist a pudding and opted for the best cheesecake ever - pecan with vanilla ice cream. I would definitely recommend this quaint pub as the service was exceptional... More
