Lovely old Inn situated away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Windermere. The hotel is quite large but the public rooms have retained their character and the bar and restaurant were delightful. The room was reasonably equipped but quite small and although ok for a couple of nights, not ideal for longer stays. The food at breakfast and dinner... more

We stayed at the famous wild boar hotel at the end of May for three nights. We were two couples celebrating a wedding anniversary. The first thing to say is the weather was absolutely glorious and couldn't have been better. The hotel was very pleasant, we had a room on the front of the hotel which we thought would be... more

Stayed over the bank holiday weekend in May. rooms vary hugely. the whole place is a bit of a rabbit warren. Pay the extra for a classic double. We had room No.10. Certainly big enough with bath and shower, and french doors onto a shared terrace. Bed very comfortable. Don't expect 4* accommodation when you are only paying 3* prices.... more

Well, this hotel is something of an enigma. To me (standing at 6ft1) this place was designed for and built by midgets. Now don't get me wrong - this is not a criticism. I actually found the low ceilings with the 'Bend or bump' signs (and lagged with padding) quite amusing. The hotel is in a nice, quiet location (especially... more

We have stayed at the wild boar quite a few times now and you would have to go far to beat the hospitality and efficiency of the staff at the wild boar, which really is first class. they are very pet friendly and have a very large wood behind the hotel for your dogs to run in (beware deer early... more

My husband and I stayed at the hotel after receiving an offer by email from English Lakes Hotels at £89 per night plus dinner on the first night. This was a fantastic price and although the menu for the inclusive dinner was limited, it was taken from the main menu and the food was of good quality which resulted in... more

Staff was very friendly. For a very old hotel the en-suite bathroom was very modern and squeaky clean. Extremely cozy. The fireplace/stove in the lobby was a lovely welcome. Great location as well. The hotel has it's own grounds and we had a nice walk. more

I simply cannot understand people who have criticised the Famous Wild Boar Hotel. We spent last Christmas there and before we left rebooked for this year. The staff were friendly and attentive, the hotel was warm and comfortable, and the food was superb. Our room, in the older part of the hotel was spacious and clean. We had a lovely... more
