We stayed at this hotel for two nights - we were pleased overall although I have to say that our room was disappointingly small. The photos posted on the hotel's main website unfortunately gives the wrong impression of a standard double room if ours was anything to go by. It was so undersized that the wardrobe door wouldn't fully open... more

Stayed over for 2 days in April 2008. Not a pleasant experience and very expensive for the small room (£125 b b). You could not swing a cat in the room. small and dingy with a noisy , busy and dangerous road nearby.(fatality that weekend). No maid service on the sunday ( they forgot). When pointed out no maids available... more

We stayed at The Whitewater for the occasion of a Wedding............There were both good bits and bad bits! In brief......the Wedding itself was fabulous....................3 Course Meal was top notch (and not pre-booked may I add......We were allowed to choose 1 of 3 Dishes per course on the Day SO top marks to the Chef here) Food was Excellent and the... more

Booked a four night stay short notice and saw a couple of the reviews before we left which made me wonder if the hotel would be ok. The hotel is old and lovely. Food was great, room huge and spacious. We were given an upgrade to a river view room with spa bath, pobably because hotel was quiet. The staff... more

I work in travel and hotel surroundings were lovely........the rooms in the hotel were of a high standard too. If you need to use your mobile you would have problems you have to drive 5 mins up hill before you can get a signal. more

I have just spent a few days at the Whitewater on a business trip. I would not recommend generally for business travellers as it has very poor telecommunications. The mobile phone signal is non-existent, which makes picking up work calls difficult, but more importantly makes ringing home without using the hotel phone, an impossibility. I had to drive up the... more

My wife and I had a 4 day break here in July and as a Professional Fire & Safety Officer I always do a check of the fire safety arrangements - here is what I found: 1. Numerous Fire Doors "wedged open" 2. No evidence/out of date testing of electrical items 3. No Emergency Phone number 4. Fire Doors downgraded... more

The pictures of the hotel are very decieving. Driving towards it there was a wow factor, upon walking in it smelt fusty and dirty. Our room was nice and the veiw was great, out bathroom was not great the spa bath had a scum line around it and the panel has hanging off and the other end of the panel... more

Stayed with my family for one night. The hotel is set in the most picturesque of surroundings and in a nice quiet retreat. It was disappointing to arrive and be told that due to a wedding reception taking place you could only use certain bars at certain times and that the restaurant opening times were being reduced. We decided to... more

This was my second time to stay here so I was looking forward to a return visit, the hotel is situated in a great spot with lovely views. The reception area is small but you get a very friendly welcome, we had booked two executive rooms, it is not a modern place but the rooms are decorated in keeping with... more
