A friend and I hiked in several places in England in May 2008. We stayed 4 nights in Windermere at The Ravensworth. We were exceptionally pleased. It met all our expectations as well as our hopes. The hosts were friendly and accommodating and were unobtrusive but always available for suggestions or recommendations. Breakfast in the conservatiory is the perfect way... more

A super stay at this centrally located property in Windermere. A 2 minute walk to the pubs and restaurants, a 5 minute cab ride to Bowness, it's in a great spot. The room was large, exceptionally clean and had parking right by the door, the bed was huge and we had a great nights sleep followed by a superb non-greasy... more

We stayed here for a long weekend, and found the hotel excellent. We had a four poster room which wasn't huge but really lovely, with a huge window. The room was clean and well decorated and the bed itself was lovely and comfortable. I especially liked the little teddy bear in the room, with his ravensworth hoody! Breakfasts were nice... more

Beautifully appointed rooms with great hosts. A little out of town so a bit of a walk to local restaurants but the standard of the rooms makes up for it. more

We booked the Ravensworth from Australia based on its location to the train station (as we were catching a train there) and the price (also the pictures were tempting). I was contacted immediately by Heather to confirm and she was more than happy to give me ideas for our itinerary whilst there. We were lucky enough to get a car... more

After trying very hard - and failing - to find a reasonably priced hotel in Windermere which would accept guests for one night only on a weekend, even in January, I found The Ravensworth which happily took our booking. I could not really fault anything. The owners were very helpful indeed and politely friendly , professional - quite distant but... more

Booked a short break at the Ravensworth using the Go Lakes website. Got a response almost immediately from the hotel to confirm our booking. Arrived earlier than the check in time but as the room had not been occupied the previous day we could check in straight away. We had book a 4 poster superior room which was light and... more

Having read the previous review I was somewhat apprehensive before arriving at The Ravensworth. I need not have worried, however. I received a friendly welcome and my room was extremely clean, well furnished and very comfortable. The breakfast was also excellent. For £30, including breakfast, The Ravensworth offers excellent value. I would certainly recommend it and definitely stay there again. more

I came to The Ravensworth based on a recommendation of a good friend. Needless to say I will be doing my own research in the future. Cheap antique reproductions, shoebox room and loo, poor view and on a VERY busy road (yes, we could hear it from our room) – The Ravensworth Guest House/Hotel was not the place for us!... more

Management response from

It is unfortunate that these particular guests did not enjoy their stay at The Ravensworth. However, we cannot understand why they felt it necessary to write such an insulting review. We are continually being complimented by guests on the cleanliness of our rooms and our excellent breakfast. The fact that many of them return again and again would seem to...
