we werre expecting a typical B and B but we felt as though we were in a modern hotel. The rooms are all refurbished and the bathrooms brand new and modern with all the toiletries you need. Thank's for the compliment's we do only cater for B&B however it does not stop us providing some of the facilities and service's you would expect in a hotel, We are all really pleased you commented on this as it makes the hard work worth it.
we have just returned from a four night break and despite the wet weather we had a very relaxing time at ellerthwaite lodge, our room was very clean wih a comfortable bed and soft pillows, we had a lovely size bathroom and big bath with shower,clean soft towels changed every day,the breakfasts were outstanding with fruits cereals choice of freshly... more

We booked a family room after reading the reviews on trip advisor, the reviews were all very good. We stayed at the Ellerthwaite after reading so many great reviews.The reviews were not wrong. It's in a great location within easy walking distance of good quality affordable restaurants. We stayed there in the beginning of July during what was the hottest weekend of the year. The room was comfortable & spotless but what always makes the differnce is the service. It was the beginning and the end of our hiking tour in the Lake District. The inn has a great common area, delicious breakfast, congenial hosts, and the most wonderful soaking tub (in our room).
