We decided to stay in Southport so we could visit Martin Mere and dunes and forest at Formby. The hotel offered an excellent rate, so we booked a double executive room for 2 nights. Very large Victorian hotel, already decorated for the festive season (3rd November)! Lovely open fire to greet us, very courteous staff, simple check in and a... more

If you must stay here refuse any room on the 4th floor, especially room 403. These are miniature rooms, located in the roof space, with miniature fixtures and fittings. I grew up in Southport and my parents had a shop on Lord Street, so we knew some of the hoteliers in the town and, through holidaymakers, the reputation of many other places to stay. I'd always wondered what it would be like to be... more

The hotel was clean which was the only thng going for it. The first morning my breakfast had hairs on it. We had asked for a room on a low floor, we got that in the basement which could not be any lower. The room was dark and very stuffy and one of the lamp fittings was held on with... more

We booked a family room for a Saturday night in late September (26/09/09 to be exact and I'm writing this at home the same evening! read on!) Would you believe that there is not heating? No really, none what so ever - not even a heated towel rail. It was quite a cool evening and getting colder as it does... more
