Location was excellent,as there were some elderly people in our group it was very important (that for those who were not staying overnight) when they went outside to get their transport home they did not have to come into contact with the very noisey late night revellers as they would have done in the city centre. The food was excellent as... more

we had the most amazing experience, we arrived on bikes and these were collected from outside by the porter and put in a safe place overnight, Our room was totally amazing with the biggest bed I have ever slept in...we were given (without asking) another rooms key so that we could use the bath. The reception staff sorted us puit... more

We arrived too early for check in at the Racquet Club, but they let us leave our bags. When we returned from a walk around town, our room was still not ready, so we were offered free drinks until it was! The bar is a wonderful room! We spent a while just looking around. Lots of paintings and antique looking... more

Difficult to find and then a steep flight of steps from the street with no assistance offered or available to manage heavy suitcases The reception was hit and miss - depending on the individual on duty, ranging from friendly and helpful to positively disinterested The shudder in the lift, we were reassured by staff, was not a sign of impending... more

Booked a romantic weekend at The Racquet Club four weeks in advance. 5 days before arrival we received an email advising that there would be a function in the hotel on the Saturday night and there would be noise from the disco until 1am. There was no mention of this at time of booking and we had paid in advance.... more

We stayed here for a friend's wedding and they had booked all the rooms there. As other people have said, it was ridiculously difficult to find without sat nav, but that was mostly because the directions I had off the internet all went by road names which were impossible to spot and it was dark by the time we arrived.... more

Lovely old building which has been converted with modern twists.. and in all fairness we were told that there was a party downstairs when we called to book a room. Great food and a friendly welcome - would stay... more

Stayed at the Racquet Club at short notice. Arrived at the original hotel we booked, but found it to be unsatisfactory and so rang the Racquet club which was fully booked, but apartment 48 was available. Friendly female staff member took us to the apartment which is just over the rd from the hotel. Lovely, spacious, clean and contemporary apartment.... more

We attended a wedding at the Raquet Club it was lovely, as were the staff. The hotel - we were given the largest room in the hotel as the wedding had taken all the rooms - so we got first choice. The room was supposed to be the family room, it cost £110 and i slept on a chaise lounge... more

Management response from
GMRacquetClub, General Manager

We don't have a family room at the Racquet Club. Whilst we try and make arrangements for guests who have children with them, our rooms are not designed with them in mind. Our rooms all have Double beds, and we have one extra rollaway bed that we can place on request. Normally if guests are bring additional children then they...

What a place!!!! We were staying there for a friends wedding, and if it wasnt for that we would have left. It takes you about an hour to find it, as it only has a small sign on the door and no one knows where it is at. Arrived and was greeted by a friendly receptionist, perhaps a little too... more
