I was drawn to the House of Weardowney via word of mouth from friends who are regulars, and feel that, having read a couple of the reviews here I must write my own. My whole experience was delightful, from our warm welcome (despite the fact we arrived in the evening, 6 hours late. thanks Vigin!) to our equally late departure,... more

Warm and hospitable host. Convenient and quiet location Expensive. No extras: breakfast cost A LOT on top of expensive room rate. No Shampoo; no-one made up our bed; no reading lights; no light over mirror in bathroom; bed ageing; not worth the money!!!! more

From the moment I entered The Guest House at Weardowney. I was warmly greeted and shuffled in from the freezing cold. Gail Downey was so especially thoughtfull and...i was quite charmed/ This is a little oasis which I hadn t expected to find near Marylebone. So much better than staying at yet another hotel as i have got so used... more

I was first recommended Weardowney through some friends from Barcelona who had stayed there on their honeymoon last year. As I travel to London on a regular basis for work, I was looking for somewhere I would feel good returning too. Ive stayed in many small hotels, from the Travel Lodge, to family run b and b's and guesthouses. A... more

Perhaps there are no bargains in London. This certainly is not one. Although the price was right, it was still over $130 per night. And although other reviews spoke of this as a place where 'models, photographers and fashionistas gather,' whoever wrote those must be delusional. For one thing, there's no place whatsoever to gather at House of Weardowney. Only... more

Having trawled through endless hotels in London searching for the perfect stay I stumbled across this guesthouse gem thanks to timeout. Situated just a 10 minute walk for Marylebourne Tube Station in a residential area of London, Weardowney is a great base to visit and explore the capital. Greated with a warm and welcoming smile from Gail, the most adorable... more

I stayed for a couple of nights at the lovely Weardowney Guesthouse a few weeks ago and found it to be utterly charming and very comfortable. Unlike the LancashireLass41, who quite frankly must have been imagining things, the guesthouse was one of the cleanest, most beautifully decorated little B&Bs I've stayed at in London.. Good thing she scampered off to... more

I had to leave the accommodation at 4.00 am in the morning after spending 2 hours scratching in bed only to turn the light on and realise the bed was infested with bed bugs ranging from 1mm to 5mm....This is one of the most horrifying experiences of my life and almost a week later I am still scratching. Thank-you London... more

Management response from
mrshousekeeper, manager

Weardowney responded to the complaint of the reviewer, who had suffered an allergic reaction to bites, that were reported to possibly have originated from our premises very seriously. Environmental health help was sought for investigation, the floor that the guest had occupied was closed, and though nothing was found, all furniture and furnishings were disposed of, and all rooms were...

An excellent centrally situated Guesthouse in London. Run by Amy and Gail, two former models who now run their thriving knitwear fashion business from the premises. The building is a listed grade 2 former public house "The Duke of Essex". There are 7 rooms each decorated in an individual style. This guesthouse is home to a fashionable crowd of artists... more
