Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

No stars for this hotel. The check in is self automated and was at 15:00, my partner and I arrived at the hotel at roughly 16:00 to find the hotel room had not been changed from the previous guest. No clean towels, messy bed with dirty sheets, rubbish still left in bins and bathroom was a state and a cracked bedroom mirror. The worst was when we found a pillow covered in blood. I have pictures as evidence. We proceeded to call the phone number provided for us, the gentleman on the end of the phone said the room will sorted for us whilst we we were out. He also said that there had been issues with this room, unsure as to why we were not told this beforehand? We came back to the room several hours later to find that the room was not cleaned. Utterly disgusted. Lack of basic standards and there was definitely a lack of basic hygiene. Nothing like the photos displayed.

Worst hotel I have ever been to. Room was horrific, towels all over the bathroom, a cracked mirror and worst of all there was blood on the pillows! Hotel is not manned, so contacted them immediately by telephone, they responded saying that they would get it seen to whilst we was out. Returned later that evening to find that they still didn’t clean it, despite being made aware of the issue.

Disgusting room, full of dust. the pictures on the ad were nothing like the room we were given. Instead we were given satans dungeon, black painted walls and ceiling, reminded me of a place trafficked children would be held hostage awaiting their sacrifice to the dark lord. This hotel should be closed down. Shame on the owners/management. The TV wasn’t tuned in and when I tried it didn’t work. The most vile, depressing hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Conveniently there was never anyone at reception and trying to call the number was pointless. Avoid at all costs.

What you see in pictures is not what you get! There is not one staff member in the building. Staff rude and obnoxious. Booked a room for three and there was a mattress on the floor as a third bed. Phoned three times for assistance and was told “it’s a bed isn’t it”. The bed sheets were stained with hairs in it. The smell of weed all through the hotel was crazy. Rooms are dark and in need of a paint. There was tea facilities however there wasn’t a plug in a safe place to plug the kettle in! The mattress was terrible and the pillows resembled a piece of paper. All in all a very disappointing stay.

Please, do not stay here. We were cheated! We booked a luxury triple room for two adults and a teenager, three nights, no breakfast included and we paid quite an amount of money because we liked the pictures that we saw on Booking and Airbnb. Unfortunately, we did not read any reviews about this place when we booked and when we got to the Amsterdam Hotel nothing was like we expected!! We had been cheated. It was a SCAM (a hotel with dust everywhere, dirty surfaces, the toilet did not flush, the TV did not work either....just to put some examples... no services at all). Imagine a building being refurbished inside with guests being welcome in. No need to say that the pictures do not correspond with what we found when we got there!! They have been cheating on people for years for what I can read. I am so sorry we did not read the previous comments...To begin with, there is a scaffolding outside since they are doing construction/refurbishing work both inside and outside the building. The place is full of dust. There is no reception, the rooms are dirty and it is as if they did not expect any guests....but the truth is that they are hiring the rooms and stealing people´s money. The front door is always opened, there is no security whatsoever since there isn´t anybody checking on who enters the building. We had to ask for soap, towels, the wifi password to two guys we met by chance... a complete disaster. There was no mirror in the shower room. The shower room doors were not closing properly. The wardrobe was broken and had no hangers inside...and I could go on and on. They make excuses and say there is temporary maintenance work going on but the truth is that they are cheating customers and ruining our holidays. The only good thing is that it is very close to an underground station, and I guess they know that and that is the reason why people still go to this horror place painted of black (black carpets, dark grey walls, everything is grey!! Same as our experience. I hope these people are fined and get no customers until they get their work done. This is not fair on us, tourists. They should be banned from operating under those terrible conditions.

I stayed here in early March 2020. This hotel was clearly in the process of being renovated which is not a problem. What is a problem is that I was given a room that wasn't finished. The only furniture in the room was the bed - nothing else! I had to keep my clothes on the floor, there were no blinds or curtains, window sills were covered in dust from sanding, bits of skirting board were unfinished... I'm sure once it is done it might be nice but I don't appreciate staying in a building site. I was also on the top floor of the hotel with no lift, so there was an 80 stair climb whenever I wanted to go in and out. Reception was hardly ever open, and when it was it seemed to be used as a social club for the receptionists and their many friends. I actually checked out a day early, and when I say checked out I mean stuck the key to the reception door with a bit of sticky tape as there was no-one around to give it to. I wouldn't stay again.

Worst place we have ever stayed. Do not stay here. Our room smelt of sewers, dirty and floors were dusty. Curtains and cushions on bed were stained, no lamp, only half a toilet roll in the bathroom. Bathroom stank, dripping water from mould patches in ceiling. Filthy shower curtain. I am certain no one should be staying in that hotel for health and safety reasons. It is falling apart. How has it not been closed down?

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. Firstly, there is hardly anyone ever present at the reception during operating hours. Additionally, the hotel looked run-down and our room was unfortunately very dusty and the blankets had stains on them. The room we received looked nothing like what we had booked online and it didn't feel safe to stay in. All of this sadly made our stay uncomfortable and disappointing.

I wish I could have chosen zero. I have stayed in cleaner, better looked after and tidier budget hotels in third world countries . We left immediately leaving the key in the room. Dusty, hairs and ‘brown’ marks on the bedsheets. Drink splash marks on the sides... loose cables and tv not working... Fortunately hotels.com were amazing and we’ve got a refund on its way.

I tried several times during two days to call them to let them know of a change of plan. No answers ever. No reply to my emails. I contacted booking.com who tried to contact them, no reply. I contacted OYO who tried as well. No answer. I finally decided not to go, they seem to have no phone. Shame on them
