I never actually got around to staying at this place - unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel my trip to London in 2002. I cancelled at least a month before the cut off point at which you are charged a night's stay for no shows. I saved the email I sent them advising of this. It's just as well I did as they charged my credit card for the night's stay anyway. I rang the hotel to tell them about this and they said that they 'sometimes have problems with their email system not receiving emails etc...' They were not very helpful...the usual stuff about having to speak with the manager and so on. Mercifully, a friend of mine is a solicitor and was able to throw a few laws at them which made them see sense, and the British Tourist Authority were a great help too. In the end they did refund the money but it took a good deal of effort. I reckon they did receive the mail and just decided to chance the charge in case I didn't argue about it.
