Got a cheap deal on this hotel, but thought it would be ok. On arrival we found the staff to be unfriendly and slow. We were given our first key card and taken into the basement to our room, as we entered it we found someone else's belongings in there! So then we were given a second keycard and given... more

I booked this hotel through their website and it went well. The hotel is situated just about 3 minutes' walk from Earls Court Tube Station. The problem with this station is it's not easy to find the lift and therefore you have to drag your luggage up the staircases which is very very difficult. Otherwise, the way back is fine... more

The hotel is quite nice. For starters, it's very clean and extremely well situated, only 2 minutes away from the Earl's Court Underground station. My room had plenty of equipment to play with: a plasma screen, a microwave, a safe deposit box and a kettle, which was, sadly, dirty. The rooms,or at least the one I was, have a feel... more

Just received a barely decipherable voicemail on my housephone telling me my reservation had been changed to another hotel due to a maintanance issue. Of course they don't actually TELL me the other hotel I'm supposed to show up at. It is literally 12 hours before I'm due to check-in. 4 unanswered phonecalls later, still no idea if I even... more

We were located on an upper floor, so we didn't have the problem some others had with being in the basement! The room was a little cramped, but had all the amenities. The bathroom seemed recently done over and was nice. Everything in the room seemed newish. Going for a sophisticated look in the decor. Nothing to rave about here,... more

I should start with that I did get a deal on this - something like 40%-50% off, so had I paid the full amount I might feel differently. Also add my 2 big complaints - room in basment so no windows! Made telling time impossible and woke up very confused! Would hate it for a long stay. Also could not... more

This hotel is quite comfortable and situated near to Earl's Court tube station. Rates are often very reasonable for London Hotels but unfortunately some of the rooms do not have natural light, i.e. are below ground level which I did not like. The first time I stayed it was only for one night so this was acceptable but when I... more

We stayed at The Shaftesbury Kensington mid-March 2009. IT's strategically located about 300 yards from teh Earl's Court tube station where you can take just 1 train (5 stops) from central Llondon, but what a difference in price! The prices online are all over the place. If you go directly to their website and book from there, you can take... more

We arrived at the hotel and immediately could tell that it was worn and VERY dated... We were left standing in the reception by the staff when there was no one in front of us. When they eventually called us over, they did not smile and generally appeared very unhappy in their job! We were given our keys and went... more

The generally possitive reviews and good price were what made me choose this hotel in the first place. The reviews were wrong and I suggest you heed my advice. I paid extra to get a deluxe room but there was nothing deluxe about what I was given. The cons are as follows: Star rating: The hotel sells itself as a... more
