Travellers' Choice
Hazlitt's occupies a group of historic Georgian houses in Frith Street, off Soho Square. In 1718 there were no modern conveniences, but we have updated the plumbing, installed bathrooms and replaced most of the candles with electricity. At Hazlitt’s our philosophy is simple. We have set out to create the kind of accommodation we ourselves would love to find in the heart of one of the World’s great cities. Civilised surroundings; old fashioned hospitality; friendly efficient service; a location away from the roar of traffic, but within a very short walk of the most important attractions.

Have to say this is one of the nicest boutique hotels I have stayed in. Considering its location the prize point was excellent. There is no central dining or bar that I noticed, but are some open seating areas to relax. Breakfast was served to the room and was really nice with a good selection. I can guarantee I will be back

Really disappointing hotel for the price of £329. Felt very basic for how luxuriously it is positioned. Plus points Staff lovely, location great, beautiful older features / decor and bed comfy. but…Negative points. Minimal modern amenities you’d expect for the price. I booked the room earlier in the year and was £379 only to find same room on the same website for £329 the week before. It is a very old building but the stairs are a bit precarious. Rooms boiling with no real control. When I turned down aircon style control, room stayed boiling hot from radiator. No actual shower but a handheld telephone style shower in the bath with no screen - this is poor in this day and age. No bottled water in room as courtesy and had to get bottle from mini bar that was chargeable. Cmon that’s not hospitality for that price. Room really tight and have to squeeze past bed to get to bathroom No iron / ironing board in room. Won’t go back but wanted to share so that people book it in the knowledge if they did want to book it.

One stay at Hazlitt's left me wondering why I'd ever consider a big chain hotel ever again. Simply put, the experience at this hotel was flawless. - The location is ideal, being in the midst of Soho and surrounded by restaurants, nightlife, theatres, shopping. Despite being so close to all there is to see and do in the surrounding area, we never found ourselves bothered by any street noise. Hazlitt's is a quick, short, and pleasant walk ( <10 mins, really) to Tottenham Court tube station, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, and countless other places, while also being a refuge and oasis from all of the hustle and bustle of popular sights like those. - We stayed in the Teresa Cornelys suite, which was a wonderful place to call home for our several nights at Hazlitt's. The room was spacious, with a large bedroom, sitting room, and massive bathroom upstairs. As is the theme throughout the hotel, the room was packed full of antique and period decor that made it all charmingly eccentric and gave the room wonderful personality. The bed was a bit outrageous, but in a way that just worked for the whole room (and it was also, most importantly, very comfortable!). And the bathroom? Only the included photo will do it justice. I've not stopped recommending Hazlitt's to every friend and family member who's traveled to London since, and am thoroughly looking forward to my next stay.

A boutique gem in the heart of Soho. Steps away from theatre, restaurants, the tube, shopping - everything at your fingertips. You are living in London when you stay here. Staff is wonderful - knowledgeable and always available. Special thanks to the A-team for their help during my stay. They are the A+++ team. This was my third stay - love staying here. Not a cookie cutter hotel - just the best hotel.

Our room was perfect in every way. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept on. The room was quiet with no outside noise. The beautiful bathroom with its massive bath & shower was appreciated. We are bath people! We stayed at sister hotel The Rookery last year and loved the history of the building there too. The honesty bar is great when surprisingly a lot of London closes at 11pm. The staff were all warm and friendly and helpful when needed. The hotel is really central and as we were off to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club it was very handily a 2 min walk from the front door. I would not hesitate to stay again and recommend to others.

Beutifully decorated and styled Georgian hotel that is a true home from home. If you like to stay in a property that feels as though you are actually at home, then stay here. Lovely period features, with the added benefit of having the heating at full blast. Breakfast is room service only, but with such a brilliant location, you have an abundance of choice in neighbouring locations. Rooms are quirkily named, and, considering the location, not noisy. This is how Durrants should be... I will be back soon !

Chosen for the history and decor, Hazlitts 1718 was stunning. I truly felt I traveled back in time to an upscale English home, but yet comforted by all the modern amenities one could need. Air conditioning was great, bed and linens were amazing, bar and snacks in room, great TV, and my personal favorite, the most AWESOME shower I've ever had. But none of that compares to all of the staff at Hazlitts, but most especially Alba and Rose. Alba cared for me daily, meeting every need I had. And when I suddenly became slightly ill, Rose and Alba took care of me and really showed they cared about me. Never in all my travels have I been treated so well, by such genuine people. Will absolutely be back, next time for a longer stay. Thank you for making my first stay in London such a memorable one!

Such a lovely place, makes you feel a part of history and like staying in a upscale proper English home . We stayed in the Joel Johnson room which was lovely, but at the top of the building, so if you are not good with 4/5 flights of stairs do ask for a room on a lower level . The sitting rooms were great on the 1st floor and we brought in some take away food and had a drink made from the “Honesty Bar” they provide . You have to be Buzzed in the front door so that added security was also nice. The staff was amazing and very helpful with arranging car service to and from Heathrow . This property was ideal for reaching many sites of interest for us. Lots of pubs , and restaurants are very nearby.

We would have loved to give Hazlitts 5-stars but we don't feel we can. It's wonderfully situated in Soho on a quieter street. It's old and very quaint...but the trade-off is that the rooms are quite small and exceptionally dark, which we would expect with an old hotel. Great plumbing and AC which we didn't get in our much fancier and more costly Mayfair hotel. The honor bar is a nice (and clever) touch but over-priced in my opinion. The reason for only four stars, however, is that when we checked-in we weren't greeted in way that made us feel exceptionally welcomed. Much more like checking in a Motel 6 rather that an boutique London hotel. The staff wasn't rude in any way, but we didn't even get a "Welcome to Hazlitt's. Have a nice stay". It was just a business transaction. Gracious hospitality is cheap and leaves an indelible first impression.
