Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Doors are paper thin, so expect noise from the corridors to disturb your sleep. Our room had broken AC and for whatever reason, it meant the room was incredibly hot -uncomfortably so. The windows were broken so couldn’t really open them safely. The internal door handles and locks were extremely clunky and noisy, so woke up my partner when using the facilities in the night. The pillows are the feather type, so provide no real support, some people like them, I don’t. Slept for maybe 3-4hours, not ideal for a reputable hotel chain.

Hotel's Favourite
We received a very warm welcome from Mohammed upon our arrival. He checked us in quickly and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay- including a discount voucher for the restaurant. The package we booked included tickets to the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Our daughters were both given a pair of glasses and a temporary scar tattoo which they took great delight in wearing on the day we visited the Studios. That was a really fun touch! We ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was very good quality, although the bar had run out of some of the drinks we requested! The waiters were attentive and helpful. On the second night, Mohammed noticed us in the restaurant again and came over to make sure we still had our discount voucher, which we greatly appreciated. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We did have to request extra milk for cups of tea and used up every last sheet of toilet paper provided! Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and approachable. We also liked the movie theme and the photos on the walls from different movie sets were interesting to look at. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had a good selection with something for everyone. Cooked breakfast, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, fresh juices and hot drinks were all freely available. Check out was quick and easy, once again in Mohammed’s capable hands! We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

As a family of 7 attending the Harry Potter Studio’s Tour, we stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton 9th to 11th March. We were certainly not disappointed. The Staff, from reception, to Bar tenders, breakfast, chamber ladies, I could go on, were just wonderful. Always smiling, kind & helpful. Reception was full of wonderful welcomes & gifts for International Women’s Day & Mother’s Day. The hotel was exceptionally clean, pillows were so comfortable. Breakfast was beautiful with everything a person could ask for. We ate an evening meal at the hotel and no complaints from anyone, in fact it was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone & we were welcomed back each evening with smiles & chats. Very comfortable lobby area, bar & restaurant. There’s a wonderful postbox in reception where the Harry Potter fans can write a letter to the man himself and low & behold, a response was under our door the following morning, also from the man himself! 😉 It’s a little bit out from town but a walkable distance nonetheless the less. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to families who are doing the tour or to anyone who is looking for a hotel in this area. Thank you all. You made our weekend special with your warmth & kindness.

Excellent friendly staff, the food in the bar and for breakfast was of very high quality. We had a family room with 4 people and was very spacious. The location is ideal and although it’s at the side of a dual carriage way you’d never know. Brilliant hotel and would defiantly recommend.

Fantastic friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to help. The food in the bar and breakfast was as also fantastic. Location was easy to find and although the hotel is located adjacent to a dual carriage way you’d never know. Would defiantly recommend and stay there again if in the area.

Hotel overall exceeded our expectations. I stayed here with my husband and 11 year old daughter. Check in was smooth and the receptionist was very friendly, we were given delicious warm brownies upon arrival. We stayed in room 220 and it was very large and spacious, so much room and definitely not cramped. The sofa bed was not made up for my daughter, however within minutes of reporting this to reception they sent a member of staff to rectify. The bed is an impressive size with lovely soft pillows, however, my husband and i personally found the bed to be hard as rock. My daughter slept on the sofa bed and she found it comfortable. It is a small double size. The bathroom was large and very clean. It had a shower over the bath and also a separate shower cubicle. The showers were not powerful but did the job. The room has an ironing board, iron, hairdryer, towels and coffee/tea making facilities. We had dinner in the downstairs restaurant and were given a voucher for 20% off our food and drinks but also children under 12 ate for free. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed it. The breakfast is buffet style. It was ok with a good selection. It needed to be replenished on a more frequent basis in my opinion. There was the option for bacon, eggs etc, fruit, pastries. Overall we did enjoy our experience here and would recommend it.

Dear bubbles230412 Thank you for your review and perfect scoring. I am so pleased to read that you "would recommend" the hotel as we exceed your expectations. I am very sorry that we missed making the sofa bed initially, however I am pleased we acted quickly to resole this and your daughter found it comfortable. We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future. James General Manager

The hotel is run down and needs a facelift. The downstairs is fine and a good appearance, but some of the rooms have not been renovated and are well below a decent standard. The quality of the room service food was very poor. Food in the restaurant was decent enough. but very overpriced. The positive thing I can comment is the breakfast which was very nice. Very overpriced for the bedrooms offered. Can get far better value for money in the area.
