Beds very hard, asked if a topper was available but not interested. We’ve stayed here several times before but the format and layout has been changed which is a great shame as it was perfect the way it was before. Layout downstairs changed for eating area which was clinical and had lost all of its previous appeal. Staff very impersonal

I booked a hotel for the wrong night, so the Saturday before Christmas in London, I had to quickly find a hotel in our budget. Fortunately, the Z Hotel popped up and we called them and they confirmed they had a room! Excellent. This hotel is a converted office building just down from Piccadilly Circus, so perfect for Christmas in London. The room had no windows, but the bed was comfy, we had a large flat screen tv and the shower room was nice. We walked to Covent Gardent from here for supper and walked round China Town.

Dear Nbuskell, That sounds like quite the adventure! It's fantastic to hear that you were able to find us on such short notice, especially during the busy holiday season in London. The location near Piccadilly Circus must have been ideal for experiencing the festive atmosphere of the city. Despite the windows, it's great to hear that you found the bed comfy, enjoyed the amenities like the large flat-screen TV, and had a pleasant shower room. Exploring Covent Garden and Chinatown sounds like the perfect way to make the most of your stay. Thanks for sharing your experience! We hope we will be able to welcome you back soon. Best regards, Eszter Kalmar Hotel Operations Manager

Really good value - hotel has everything you could ask for - if you sign up (free) and become a "Z" member, you get a cheese plate and glass of wine each evening of your stay. Room very comfortable. Bed good, bathroom small but very good (strong shower etc) Ground floor street facing room (008) was quite noisy in the early morning with deliveries and bins etc - ear plugs definitely required, but I suspect upper floors would be quieter. Would definitely stay at a Z hotel again

Dear BenBarribal, Thank you for sharing your detailed review! It's fantastic to hear that you found The Z hotel in central London to be a very good budget option with excellent value. It's great to know that you found the room comfortable, with a good bed and a strong shower in the bathroom. I am sorry to hear you faced some noise issues on the ground floor. Please, when you book with us again in the future, leave a comment on the reservation with your preference with higher floor, and we will try to accommodate your request. We're delighted that despite this, you would choose to stay at The Z hotel again. We are very pleased to hear that you like our membership program as well. We look forward to welcome you back as a member very soon on your next visit to London! Best regards, Eszter Kalmar Hotel Operations Manager

we slept here for four nights. First of all the positive things, the position from the hotel is excellent ! You are right next to Picadilly Circus less than 5 minutes to go . That's all positive i can say... for the rest I was happy to leave as soon as possible, the room are so small you can't move in the room together, you can't open your baggage otherwise you can't walk anymore in the room, there was one small window in the room, the windows don't open ! So imagine how was the atmosphere inside the room .... you can't open the window, you take showers and go to the toilet so just imagine ( or not ) how un breathable it was ! Our store was also broken and dirty The room wasn't clean and the bathroom too ... reception very unfriendly. we will never go back again !!

Conveniently located, friendly welcome and compact room that was priced appropriately. As a member i was upgraded on arrival to a room with window, and given a complimentary journal. Speedy check in and room has all the basics that you need. Clean, functional, and whilst not luxury, certainly did the job.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Not much to say really other than it was a great place to stay. Reception team were helpful and friendly. Room was nice - had a basement room with no windows option. Very clean. Water in room, choice of hot drinks. Contemporary and nice lighting options. Could leave luggage for the day too. Would stay again

As I have stayed at Z hotels many times, I had signed up for their membership scheme. I called in at this Hotel well before check in time to ask if I could leave my bag, and was thrilled to be told there was a room ready and that I had an upgrade. As a member I was also offered the opportunity to partake of complimrntary wine and cheese later in the afternoon. On other stays at Z hotels. I had arrived late evening and just wanted to rest so had not had looked into this offer. It was very enjoyable. I have always found the staff at Z Hotels to be friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are not large but are clean and comfortable and do the job well. I was acknowledged every time I passed Reception, which was nice, and the Gentleman on duty for breakfast was friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for theatres and sightseeing.

First time I've stayed here and will stay again. Very good service, very friendly staff, very clean and the rooms were perfect, if not quite small for 2 people. Their breakfast looked very good but they didn't do a cooked breakfast but plenty of places to eat. The hotel was very close to theatre-land so perfect. Thank you

Have stayed here before prior to Covid and was excellent. The hotel is in a fabulous spot. Just off Picadilly on a quiet street. That is the positive. When I stayed here before the hotel was well maintained and although the rooms are extremely small, they were perfectly formed .Sadly, however they have not been maintained well and the cracks are starting to show. As mentioned in other reviews, the carpets on the stairwells have not been maintained and ate very badly stained which shows lack of maintenance. The main issue. However, is the lack of maintenance within the bedrooms, namely the air-conditioning units which are not functioning properly during the day because of the ambient noise within the room, you don’t notice it so much but it’s bedtime when you really do notice it When switched on , every 40 minutes it made a one minute sound like almost running water. When switched off every 40 minutes, it makes a gurgling sound so you can’t win. Even if you turn it off the sound is still as bad if not worse. Upon returning to hotel room at 10 o’clock in the evening I reported the noise and somebody came to look at it . However, it’s an intermittent sound. The person said they would talk to the manager and get back to me , when I advised it was 10 o’clock at night and I needed an answer quickly about what they were going to do. They said they would do their best. After waiting 20 minutes I realised that clearly they weren’t going to do anything so got ready for bed. Not wanting someone to knock on my door at 11 o’clock at night I used my mobile to ring the front desk to check what was actually going on, I was told by the young lady on reception that because the staff member could not hear any noise when he looked, they were not intending to do anything. I expressed my surprise that no one had had the courtesy to inform me of that decision and I had been waiting for 50 minutes since my report at 10 o’clock that night ,. No apology was made other than that she would put it on my reservation notes!! This is a very poor service and just shows how many complaints they must get of this kind. This is such a shame as when I visited this hotel prior to Covid everything was well maintained and although the rooms were tiny they had everything you needed and were not subjected to noisy air conditioning. I would also say that the blinds that are fitted within the windows have not been replaced with the original blinds which are fully blackout blinds. They have subsequently fitted new blinds but have not had the canopies fitted over them. Therefore the light comes all the way around the blind, because the blinds do not fit in within the window frame . Because the room is so small and the therefore the bed is up against the window, this makes a big difference as the light pollution is so much more apparent when the bed is underneath the window . We had two rooms, and my friend’s room was just as bad. Why did they not replace the broken blinds with the original blinds and replace the canopies to stop the the light pollution? All in all a very poor service and very bad night sleep. My advice therefore would be not to stay here if you want a good night sleep. Come back once the hotel has had a refit,. we also booked two queen rooms and because they double booked our room we had to accept a queen accessible room. Sadly these rooms have a very big bathroom which takes up most of the bedroom but we had no choice but to accept it. The riser on the shower in this accessible queen was broken. Therefore the shower-head was very low down and flooded the floor every time you used the shower. This was reported during the day and was handled very well by the manager who offered us a complimentary breakfast to make up for the double booking and the issue with the shower. He also offered us a discount on the room rate because of the issues Sadly he was not working in the evening when we had the other maintenance issues.. All in all this hotel needs a really good refit to the original standards before anyone should have to stay there again. I really would not recommend.
