We stayed for 2 nights (Boxing day and following night) and found the hotel to be extremely good value. All the staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was big and tasty. The rooms could do with some updating as they are rather old fashioned, but they are good for the price. We also used... more

I've stayed at this property a few times now with business, it's location is very good for major road links. The reception and bar definately need a lick of paint, but their clean. The food is good, I had a barmeal the last time i stayed which was huge !, and the breakfast was nice if a little bland. I... more

Make sure you get a good rate and a newly finished room. Many rooms have creaking floorboards so neighbours keep you awake. Food, is good value, not impressed with waitress forcing you to get a drink before your meal so they can get you for the cost of 2 drinks. Hotel is showing signs of wear and tear and needs... more

This hotel was so bad it was almost funny! The manager said that the hotel is full of character - for that read old, out of date and frayed round the edges without any of the charm attached to character! He also said that the rooms are 'quirky'. For that read under equipped, delapidated and much in need of a... more

The staff give the impression that they are hiding some terrible secret and that they don’t like strangers staying here in case it is discovered, walking into the breakfast room in the morning I felt about as welcome as Camilla at Diana's memorial but this place is so weird that actually I want to go back. More reminiscent of an... more

The hotel needs a complete refurb. My husband had a walk around the back of the hotel and there were boarded up windows and furniture piled high in back rooms! We changed our room and it was a little better. Sheets were clean, new toilet (jacked off the wall with a piece of 2x2 wood however). The cleaners tried hard,... more

We booked this hotel before reading some of the reviews on here, and as it was too late to book anywhere else we decided to stick with it and to be fair it was alot better than we were expecting. Don't get me wrong it definately needs some modernising in the pulbic areas, but our room looked as if it... more

Apart from the poor run down decor, the worst part about the place was the staff attitude. I got the impression that having anyone around was a problem. The bar staff did not look at you or smile. The restaurant made a fuss about booking a meal time, making me eat earlier than I wanted only to find the place... more

Each month i would have to work in middlesbrough and i would stay in the marton. Its the worse hotel i have ever known. It smells bad, like greasy cooking. It looks like it hasnt been decorated since the 70's. The rooms are very basic, if your room has a tv in it dont be surprised if it doesnt work.... more
