Reception was very friendly and the entrance was decorated recently. The room smelled of dust, the bed was springy and worn and well slept in with a missing wheel at the one corner. The teaspoon was still dirty from the previous client. The bed cover has probably never been washed. The bathroom had cracked tiles and a little smelly. I... more

I got a late discount - £43 not including breakfast. As others say, it's a trip back to the 1970s, and I suspect the beige carpets and wallpaper haven't been renewed since then. The room was pretty tiny, with hardly any space to sit at the equally minuscule desk. But the towels were OK, the sheets were clean, and I... more

Room was clean, though dated ( as is all the hotel) No cold water in the bath/shower. We could hear the room upstairs who sounded like they were doing sprint training. My kids room smelt of cigarette smoke, All in all not somewhere I will stay again.Which is a shame as it is well placed for the centre of Norwich. more

I stayed at this hotel for a friends birthday it was the worst night sleep i have ever had. It was FREEZING! i wore 2 jumpers and 2 pairs of socks and shivered all night. Also our phone rang at intervals all night and drunk people kept knocking on our door. Stay at your peril! more

Two of us wanted to see Norwich for the first time and wanted an inexpensive place to sleep and breakfast for five nights, which also had lounge/drawing room facilities to occupy if rain kept us indoors. We selected the Lansdowne for its location, in spite of a couple of dissatisfied Tripadvisor reviews. It was ten minutes' leisurely stroll from the... more

Stayed at the Lansdowne back in August for a few days. The hotel is different to say the least. I wouldn't say it was terrible but I certainly wouldn't return as it's not my cup of tea. Really the main let down is the state of the place (poor decor, outdated facilities etc). Positives - - Good location about 5... more

Only stayed one night so just managed to bear it. It is very 70s although the staff are pleasant enough as long as you don't ask for anything out of the ordinary. Didn't like the prison style doors to each room! more

Great location, walking distance from bars, clubs and restaurants, very helpful and friendly staff. Basic accommodation but good value for money. Excellent dinner, would stay again. more

Arrived in 2006 to be greeted by 1970, with the requisite decor and beurocracy. Had requested a no-smoking room, got a smoking room. The en-suite contained soap, shampoo and a shower hat, but no shower. Left the next day (with more paperwork). Unless you enjoy time travel the only thing this hotel has in its favour is the location. Forget... more
