The bed and communal rooms are pleasant. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The rates are reasonable, and the food choice and quality good. Although the hotel is ready for refurbishing it is clean and tidy the food and beer were excellent the staff friendly and helpful and all at the right price. I stayed 2 nights at a hotel in grasmere paying nearly 3 times the price and not as good. Golden lion definitively recommended on price. more
