We've just come back from a 3 night stay here for my husbands birthday. The room was very comfy and warm. It was really nice to be able to make as many hot drinks as you liked, especially as you were provided with really large mugs to drink from, instead of the usual tiny tea cups you often find in... more

A lovely b&b in an excellent location. The owners could not have been friendlier and made us feel really welcome. The rooms were the cleanest i have ever seen and were excellent value for money. The best part of all was the breakfast - There was a fantastic selection to choose from and i have never eaten poached eggs as... more

The owners of the Guesthouse were incredibly friendly and warm. The rooms were delightful and comfortable. The staff were always smiling and friendly, they were very helpful and carried out bags up to our room. Breakfast was lovely, my partner had the whitby smoked kippers, he recommends them highly. My full english breakfast was the best and the coffee is... more

I stay at Argyle House at least a dozen times a year as it's my favourite get away place from the stresses of my work as a chef. I consider Bill and Mel to be great hosts, very welcoming, polite and personal friends of mine. Last time I stayed, which was just last week, they presented me with a birthday... more

I have stayed in many hotels over the years both for business and leisure. I can confidently say this has been one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The couple who run it are so friendly and welcoming. I felt just like I was at home. The rooms were cleaned every day and it looked and felt so... more

As part of our 'trip around UK' holiday, we spent 2 nights at Argyle House. The welcome was warm and friendly and the rooms clean and spacious. The location of this guest house is ideal for exploring the surrounding areas too. The prices are very decent for en-suite rooms and the breakfast should also be commented on, as it was... more

This was my first time in Whitby and I booked a room after reading the reviews on this site. I could not have chosen better. The room was not huge, but was perfectly clean and well maintained. The service was friendly. The people who run the place were really sweet and made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was generous and... more

My husband and I are now regulars at Argyle House and truly ADORE this guest house as well as the lovely family that run it. We were deeply saddened to read the review by 'Tinkolidoof', which seems to us like a poor attempt at slating the good name that Argyle House have built. But why, we truly cannot guess! My... more

I can only agree with the poor reports already posted. On arrival we rang the doorbell several times but noone answered so we then had to ring the guesthouse twice - still no answer - went straight to answer machine. Finally, after about 10 minutes of waiting outside the owner came to the door with no shoes on looking like... more

I really don’t know what this person means. I never ever allow guests to ring the doorbell more than twice. This has never ever happened. I live on the 2nd floor so it takes me time to get to the front door but i have never ever taken more than 2 rings. I have checked my doorbell to make sure...
