I agree with the other reviews that this is a very good apartment and well situated. The location was very central. We felt very safe and secure behind the 2 doors leading into the harbour facing courtyard from which the apartment was entered. We didn't have any issues with late night noise although we didn't stay at the weekend. The main... more

Searching for good self catering accommodation can be a nightmare, and I'd tried quite a few places in Whitby before I found Whitby Retreats on Grape Lane. I'd had the usual experience; surly owners not returning my calls, vastly inflated prices for tiny flats which seemed to be furnished with cast-offs from the family caravan, and the slightly daunting prospect... more

As soon as we opened the door it felt like home and the decor was nice and simple but to a high standard . The owners have gone along way to ensure everything is provided , because we always forget something when we go away . The setting is lovely and you are right in the hustle and bustle of... more

This is a gorgeous house tucked away on a cobbled street, right in the heart of all the action in Whitby. Really lovely inside, very cosy and a great size – I went with just my boyfriend and there was loads of space – I should think it would be great for families. We went on a very cold weekend... more

The apartment is, as others have said, well-appointed, neutrally decorated to please and securely located. Car-less as we were (Whitby parking has always been an nightmare) we found it an excellent location for sorties out into and beyond the town, which is one of England's finest for a traditional seaside holiday. A few observations: Grape Lane on to which the... more

Just returned from a two night stay. Absolutely wonderful! Would agree 100% with other comments. The accommodation was warm, spotlessly clean and most comfortable. All the little touches like the provision of milk in the fridge, tea bags, coffee and sugar – even a bottle of wine, were most welcome, as were the DVDs, CDs, Books & toys, a box... more

We have stayed at the Whitby Retreats holiday home three times now and have been absolutely delighted every time. Accommodation This first and second floor apartment sits securely behind the huge wrought iron gates of the Captain Cook museum and seems to share the museum's private courtyard and access to the harbour view. Upstairs, away from it all but with... more

We have just returned from a 3-night stay at this self-catering house/apartment - it is'nt a hotel. Everything was super from the booking onwards when Emma could not have been more helpful even though we were a little vague about our dates. The house is really lovely, very secure, spotlessly clean and very nicely appointed throughout. The view from the... more

What can I say ? nothing bad that's for sure. This holiday cottage (house) is just amazing - there isn't anything to improve upon - everything you could possibly want - excellent location - fantastic accomodation and facilities - a true home from home - only one downside to our visit, and that was it wasn't long enough ! Don't... more

Whitby Retreats is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom holiday cottage next door to Captain Cook Museum with great harbour views. The decor is stunning, modern and straight out of 'Home Beautiful'. The kitchen is state of the art, the beds new and comfortable with fluffy white duvets and pillows. We stayed 3 nights and did not want to leave. The... more
