I can't fault number 34 - from the moment we walked in from the chill of snow-covered York we found warmth, charm, and fantastic service. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever eaten, and the quiet but central location means this is a must for anyone. We will definitely return to this charming place. more

My husband and I go to York every year at this time. We have stayed in many places but never wanted to re-visit them, but this time we will definatley return to No 34. We stayed just for one night, but found the location perfect - just a short walk into the town and easy access to the sights and the restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was "Full English". Things were quite busy while we were there, so there did not seem to be an opportunity to get to know our... more

My wife and I stayed two nights in July on the 4th leg of our UK and Ireland trip. Location was perfect - less than 10 minutes walking (slowly) to the Minster. York is small so ven the far reaches of the city are only 20 minutes away. Great breakfast, quiet, clean room. Overall, Amy has a great place at... more

Can't fault No 34. Friendly welcome, comfortable clean well-appointed room and only 10 minutes walk to the Minster. Car parking via resident's permit quickly arranged on check-in. Ample and delicious full English breakfast served in spotless dining room by charming efficient landlady. Too many good things in York to list, but a couple of tips - if you're there on... more

We recently did a two week trip through the U.K. and stayed at 6 different B&Bs during the trip. Number 34 was by far one of the top two places we stayed. Amy was a perfect host. She was kind, funny, helpful and always was truly interested in listening to her guests. The rooms were adorably decorated, comfortable and had... more

We appreciated the timely check-in and clean room that looked out onto the quiet street. The room was tastefully decorated, the shower water temperature was good, and morning breakfast was delicious. Would stay at #34 again. more

This B&B was close to the main road into York (10 minutes normal paced walk to York Minster). You really can't get closer unless you want to spend a fortune and those B&B's are only on the main road, not within the walls. The road the B&B is on, is on the town map which is really handy and is... more

My husband and I were warmly greeted by Amy, the owner of Number 34, who had an excellent bedside manner. Nothing was too much trouble, and the hearty breakfast, was absolutely delicious and served with care and a smile. Our room was immaculate, clean, tidy, spacious, beautifully decorated and the double bed was extremely comfy, we just sank into a... more
