I have mixed feelings about my recent stay at the Parsonage. We stayed there recently to attend a friends wedding, the wedding itself went smoothly and the company of the people meant we had a great day. The hotel itself however we found to be lacking. Given the lack of decent wedding venues in the area the Parsonage gets booked... more

I travel regularly on business both in the UK and Europe and I usually end up in some bland faceless box type hotel. I had the rare opportunity to be visiting some friends in the area who booked this hotel for me. We stayed for two nights and were able to have dinner on one night in the lovely restaurant,... more

A wedding only hotel with drunken wedding guests waking residents up at 4am with blazing rows. Weddings spill out into all areas of the hotel with no space to relax. Friendly reception staff & clean rooms but surley and limp handed management & night staff only interested in taking money and not really looking after you. Breakfast is a waste... more

Fri 11 - Sun 13 Apr 2008. Not recommended, this is a wedding and corporate venue. They seem incapeable of individual service, very few smiles here, except for the house keepers who are fantastic. Some of the staff have to be the rudest people I've ever come across in this industry. Service was very slow and at times bordering on... more

While we try to encourage guest's from the same party to sit together. The other guests from his party, were more than happy for "this gentleman" to sit on his own and made several applogies on his behalf. A full training review is being implemented on how to deal with "difficult guest's" it's clear we fell down in this respect.

Family party of 19 stayed overnight to celebrate "Grandma's" 80th. Check in was fine. Room was clean and spacious although decor a little bit dated. Bathroom clean, quite roomy but the door opened on to the toilet and the water was too hot, both could have caused injury. The whole party had afternoon tea in the very pleasant conservatory overlooking... more

booked for overnight stay. the booking was confirmed at the price quoted on line but later the hotel claimed they had made a mistake concerning the room tariff and the correct price would cost me a further £90! very unhappy with the atitude of the hotel and that they did not have the integrity to honour a confirmed booking. needless... more

This Lady tried to book a 4 poster room on the internet for £50, obviously these rooms are not available at this price and have never been. We do have 4 poster rooms and we do on rare occasion's have rooms available at £50. As is often the case people get upset when they can't book something on the internet,...

Having seen some of the reviews on TA I was some what worried when I booked for a saturday night's stay (No where else in York would do a one night's accomodation) The check in was smooth and efficiant. A very pleasant young girl showed us to our room. (An offer to carry bags and a chatty conversation a rareity... more

Have stayed here twice now and I have to say the quality has been a bit hit and miss. The staff are really good, very attentive and pleasant. The public rooms could do with a bit of an overhaul really - they look a bit on the shabby side. Food in the restaurant is good but quite pricey. On my... more

After reading previous reviews of this hotel, I wasn't looking forward to staying very much at all. My partner and I had been invited to a wedding at the hotel and it was the only place in the area we could book a room, and we had to pay the full £120 rate. I was fully expecting to be disappointed,... more

Just back from two night stay at this hotel, we paid £118 for our 2 night stay including breakfast. We booked through late rooms at a discounted rate, definately not worth the £120 a night if you book direct. We were in the annexe our first night very peaceful and looking out towards the large gardens added to the tranquilty!!!... more
