The Hotel is so so - really nice views from the river side; competent and helpful staff at the desk. Very close to the centre of York. Stayed there for one night only as that was all the time that we had available. Would certainly return if/when we revisit York. We had a double room with an additional double fold-out bed for our son. Clean, comfortable room, as was the rest of the hotel, although a little 'IKEA' for some people's taste. We were very quickly checked into the hotel by the reception staff at the desk. The room was light and airey and clean and all that would be expected of a budget hotel. The shower was my only critic as it was not a power one and slightly weak. The bed was comfortable and spare pillows available in the cupboard.... more

This was our 2nd visit to York but the first time at the Novotel. To be honest we only stayed here as the Premier Inn was being re-furbished at the time of the booking. Excellent Hotel. Modern room - large double bed + sofa, flat screen TV and internet, seperate bathroom/toilet. Very clean and very quiet. 5 minute walk into york centre the hotel has carpaking (free) which is essential in York. Small swimming pool frequented mainly by kids - nice bar and restuarant. This Hotel is very very basic. Food & drinks are very expensive. Food very bland. Not many english speaking staff! Hotel location is ideal. Travelodge is probably nicer and cheaper. more

Just returned today, the hotel was bland and basic, amidst all the ikea look i wasnt impressed. Food wasnt anything to rave about and completly over priced however thanks be to the masons arms just up the rd for decent food and prices we didnt starve.
