We made the mistake of booking a Sunday night ‘special’. There’s nothing special, it seems, about a Sunday night at Middlethorpe Hall. The dining room was empty but for one other couple. Booked with travel agent but NOT before reading reviews on tripadvisor. Chose York for National Railway Museum & Minster and chose Middlethorpe because we needed a top-notch place to stay in case we would rather relax than continue to tour. First reviewed other York UK 4 -star hotels (closer to center of city). We're so glad we chose this location.... more
