We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently in June 2008, as we were attending a friends wedding in a nearby location. Upon entering the lobby, we were impressed with the decor and layout of the hotel. Good efficient check-in procedure and our room was very nice, clean, good standard and quiet. The dining room for breakfast was of... more

Me and my wife went to York for a long weekend getaway. Our objective was relaxation, visting historic York. Both of our objectives were exceedingly met. The hotel is located a couple of miles from the city centre historic cites in the countryside, so it is very peaceful. Since it is located a couple of miles away from the city... more

This 3* hotel was not great. We were given a room that was clearly for families - pretty run down, separate beds (!), and quite tatty. The supposed cocktail bar did not serve cocktails, crisps, or nuts. The only good thing here was the food in the restaurant. We decided to check out a day early, rather than stay another... more

We booked this break through a special offer in one of the daily papers, excellent price 3 nights for the price of one, with breakfast, booked it then read the reviews, was slightly worried. But should not have been, we originally wanted just somewhere to stay to do the touristy bit around york. The Park and ride just being 5... more

Spent New Year at the Ramada York. To sum it up. Beautiful hotel with great potential, but poor service. Rang up prior to booking twice to ensure I was allocated a particular room, when I got there it was allocated to some one else as there was no note on the system. Very annoying. Only eat breakfast at the Hotel... more

After Reading some of the reviews i wasn't too sure what to expect but as it was one of the only hotels that had vacancies for the race meeting i booked it. Entrance / Bar area is ok, rooms are a good size and comfortable. No gym or pool which was slightly disappointing. We had dinner in the restaurant on... more

We had a DBB package and stayed in a suite. We found the staff friendly and courteous- maybe you get back from people what you give?? I agree the rooms are a bit tired but ours was quite clean just the odd cobweb high up. The bed was large but very hard and didnt like the fact that there was... more

If you read the reviews, this is either a fantastic hotel or a mediocre at best place to stay in York. Believe the later. I stayed for 4 nights over a long weekend. Our room looked into an internal courtyard that resembled colditz - told that there were no other rooms availible. The rooms are very dated, with tired decor... more

I stayed here for a weekend attending a family function in York. Most of the family stayed here which gave me an opportunity to look at several rooms. The hotel comprises of an old building and a sympathetic new building joined by a bizarre looking grand portico which is completely out of place. The old building has more character with... more

Had a three day break at this hotel. The hotel and rooms were beautiful but the staff were even better from Reception to Management they did their utmost to make our stay memorable. The Restaurant with the Manager Basil was fantastic and my wife and I are planning our next visit more
