Traffic noise was terrible. We booked two rooms with children and were allocated rooms at the front by the road, over the bar. No safe, double glazing or airconditioning. This hotel is not the most luxurious hotel in the world but it has bags of character, incredibly helpful staff and is also in a fantastic location right in the centre of York. I would definitely go back here if I were on a trip to York. more

Excellent location just opposite the city walls and a few minutes walk to the Minster and shops. Free parking. This hotel basically across the street from the city centre...so, it is essentially in city centre. The hotel is very nice...not luxury, but solid and comfortable. The staff is really nice, and the price is awesome. I used to be a Dean Court faithful...but since they changed the style to modern, I've become a Monkbar fan...its definitely worth a stay. more
