We chose to stay here for 3 nights at the end of January as the place we used to stay at regularly had dropped down the Trip Advisor ratings dramatically. We were not disappointed! The owners were enjoying their own holiday abroad and the place was being looked after by some relatives who greeted us like family when we arrived.... More

Couldn't ask for a better place to stay for my 40th Birthday. We booked one of four poster rooms which had the wow factor. On arrival we were met by Alec who is very friendly and made us very welcome. Our room was beautiful, clean, spacious and had excellent views of the river and the York Wheel. The bed mattress... I've just finished reading a review by klistermom in April 2011 and I am almost speechless! My wife and I have stayed at the Abbey Guest House on several occasions and I wish to reassure anyone thinking of staying of the following; 1] the "factory" is in fact the Mail sorting office on the other side of the river and... Great little B&B right beside the river and within the City Walls. Easy to walk to the city and also free parking for guests. Nice breakfast and good recommendations for pubs and restaurants. We will be back again the next time we visit York. More

My wife and I stay at the Abbey guest house every year and always have a really enjoyable visit. The whole house is spotlessly clean, the room is very comfortable and the breakfasts something to look forward to. Always welcomed on arrival with a tea or coffee and a slice of cake or mince pies and a chat with Gill... More
