We booked this hotel last minute in half term week. We were so lucky to have found this by chance, as it was a short walk into York. As others have commented, the walk is much shorter than it looks and there's also lots to see on the way, including some small specialist shops. We've been to York many times... more
We stayed 2 nights at Stanley House off Haxby Road. This is a good value B & B. The rooms are average but have all the usual, tea coffee making facilities, hairdryer, info pack etc. Breakfast good. A little disappointed that the room wasnt tidied/cleaned by housekeeping but all things considered very good value for money. more
Had a pleasant weekend here. It is not as far from the city as some maps make it look. Its an easy 10 min stroll into town. Parking wasnt too bad either. Had two good breakfasts, all in all quite satisfied and would be happy to stay here again. more
The rooms at this guesthouse are just like in the pictures on their website---no unpleasant surprises.The mattresses are firm and the pillows were fine.It is a quiet place to stay.We heard our neighbours across the hall only once and that was when they were in the hall.The breakfast was very good---cooked fresh and with lots of tea.The owner was very... more
