As soon as we arrived after a 3 hour drive, we were made to feel very welcome and were informed about all the local sights, informed how long it took to get to each one and how to get there from the guest house, this was really helpful as we had not stayed in York before. The room we stayed... more

At last minute, I was able to reserve a family room at the Ascot House. From the moment we arrived until we departed, we encountered comfort, friendly staff, luxury, sleep-filled nights. The only downfall is the location. We were told to walk down an alley and then turn left and go about a mile to get to the center of... more

Beautiful room, helpful host, and a great breakfast, more choice than we could imagine. The setting is just fantstic. Easy walk into York, to view the sights. We had a lovely ground floor room, with 4 poster bed, and a garden outlook, very peaceful and quiet. more

Booked Ascot House at the last minute and stayed in the Family Room on the first floor. Must say, that the house has some beautiful features and has been looked after and well-maintained. The stained-glass window on the stairs is lovely. The room was large and exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. I could not believe how quiet it... more

We stayed at Ascot house at the beginning of September as astop off point to the North York Moors. We couldn't have wished for a batter start to our holiday. We were travelling with our dog who was given a very warm welcome. We gathered lots of useful information from the very kind owners and left after a hearty breakfast... more

A last minute decision to celebrate an anniversary & birthday without children.Booking was a last minute thing so didn't have any choice of rooms due to being the races so limited vacancies throughout York. This house is of a lovely homely character with owners that are friendly and welcoming to make you feel relaxed. Room 12 isn't en suite but... more

The room, service and food represented excellent value for money with friendly and obliging staff. Great advice re York attractions. Good value internet service provided and amazing breakfast. Grand old building and walking distance to the centre of York yet far enough out to be peaceful. more

My partner, his brother and girlfriend, and i all stayed at Ascot House for one night. We went on our motorbikes and were very impressed with the secure parking and welcome we got. The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us suggestions of where to visit in York. The hotel is in a good location and is beautiful inside.... more

After reading excellent reviews of this Guest House my husband & I went for a romantic Easter break. The Guest House is in a good location with a 20 minute stroll to the Town. There is a Co-Op opposite with a Boots Chemist a 5 minute walk on the main road. Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.... more

We stayed two nights at the Ascot House, taking a triple room as we were traveling with our college-age son. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from downtown York and has off-street parking, something many York B&B's do not have. The street is quiet, and the hosts very gracious and accommodating. The bed wasn't the most comfortable in the... more
