Booked this place having read reviews on another website which were positive. Arrived to be given a room that was dark to the point of not being able to see even in midday Sun. Furniture tatty and chipped, bedding well worn and dusty and walls so very thin that we were treated to a full full sound show every time... More

We went to York for one day and made a reservation at Moorlan House a kind of B&B. However we arrived late, around 11:30pm, and were welcome with shouts, because we are late. The person was very mad and was very rude with us, he made us pay immediately but cancelled our breakfast and all the time he was shouting... More

My mum booked us a weekend away for my birthday here, at The Moorland House, through Booking.com. On arrival, it looked lovely & was handy to have an off road car park! However...that suddenly changed!! Once we rang the bell, and walked through the door, within seconds we were handed a card machine & was told for 2 nights b&b... More

Stayed here over weekend{2nights}. Very dated needs refurb .For what we paid and what we got it is incedibly expensive, If it had been half the price it might have been acceptable,The cleanliness needed a lot to be desired. The Guy who greeted us made Lurch out of the Addams Family Look like "The laughing Cavileer".Would not Reccomend this to anybody

Basic room with very dated furniture. En-suite grubby with broken toilet seat and disgusting toilet brush! Shower went from boiling hot to freezing cold. Nowhere to hang or put anything in the cramped en-suite. Whole area needed a refurb! Also could here the people very clearly in their en-suite in the next room. Breakfast only average- sausages looked hardly cooked!... More

Found the whole stay at the B&B enjoyable. This is not a 5 star hotel! So, some of the previous comments are, in my opinion un called for. Found the staff helpful and polite. Accommodation was everything I needed and more. Good job to you moorland house.

Basic room, dated grubby en-suite. Two of us stayed for 3 nights (room only). The man who greeted us was not very welcoming and insisted on immediate payment. When we arrived back on the third night, another bed had been put up in the room. We were unable to contact the owner and the room was very cramped. My clothes,... More

Overpriced, grubby, with an extremely RUDE OWNER ! I reckon that I've stayed at over 60 different hostels/bed and breakfasts in the past 18 months, ranging from the fancy London hotels to mud-shacks in deepest Peru and everything else in-between, and my experience here was easily the worst of them all. We had originally booked into another B&B for a... More

Easy check in, spacious, modern room and lovely breakfast. Convenient for York and free parking. Only complaint is gentlemen (builders, I think) in room above who came in at midnight and 4am and walked a marathon around their room in their workboots - very noisy!! Would stay again though.
