I am usually a fan of Travelodges and stopped here a few years ago and it was fine. But on this occasion we were right at the front of the building and the traffic noise was really bad even with the window shut. The room was also far too hot. Another couple in the lift were also complaining about that.... more

Travelodges are like McDonald's--you know what you are going to get; it won't be an exciting experience but it will meet a certain standard of quality. Everything here was as advertised. No frills, no flat screen TV, no toiletries. But I was staying for several nights, and the £39 per night for the stay was far better than any other... more

For £29 for a family room you couldn't go wrong really. Friendly, helpful reception staff (we were a pillow short but a quick trip to reception soon remedied that) and clean, airy room. You don't get breakfast included and the "breakfast bag" offered by the hotel was nowhere near as good value as the breakfast from the Wetherspoons pub below... more

We've stayed at several different Travelodges around the UK and this one remains our firm favourite. We stayed for £9 per night, so £4.50 pp, pn. - It has a great location- we could see Clifford's Tower & the river from our room at the back & out the front was the Roman Wall, with Dick Turpin's Grave a 1min... more

Stayed here for one night with hubby and kids (4 & 7), only paid £29 for the family room. After seeing other reviews we found the cheap parking round the corner (no fee after 6pm). The first room we was alocated was above the pubs smoking area, so we asked to be moved and they did that with no problems...... more

At £56 this hotel was only slightly cheaper than its competitors in York. I wish I had paid the extra now. The hotel has a stupid system of not allowing check in before 3 pm unless you pay £10 and will not except any left luggaage for "security reasons". Of course this means everyone queues to check in whilst the... more

For 29 pounds a night for a family room, this hotel provided so much value for our money. We booked 3 rooms and knowing that they charge early check in, we paid for early check in for just one room where we can all leave our things and be gone to our sightseeing. The hotel area was safe, right across... more

Found the hotel very noisy until at least 11pm, due to the Wetherspoons pub next door (their smoking area was below us). Not a great situation if you have to go back early, because you have children. Would say that hotel is not for families, but for people going to York for a good night out (great location, close to... more

This travelodge is in an excellent location in Central York, within easy walking distance of York Minster, the Shambles and other attractions. You do need to pay 10 pounds for parking, but the convenience to the city centre and the low cost of the rooms make it well worth it. We paid 29 pounds for a family size room which... more

Stayed for one night. Found the room to be rather grubby to say the least. Markings on the wall, worn out furniture and a big clump of hair left in the bath. Dirty looking bathroom floor and not even a bath mat to cover it. The view from the window was OK, at least what I could see of the... more
