My husband & I stayed at The Steer Inn along with our children & we found it to be an extremely friendly place to stay. The staff were very helpful & the food was very enjoyable. Our kids were entertained playing in the childs play area. Would definately stay again, very reasonable prices. more

Stayed here on a weekend to York. Found the location fine and the staff very friendly. The inn had a lovely homely feel to it and the food that we had on the Saturday was lovely and we can definately recommend the Banoffee Roulade that was to die for! more

I am writing this review as a visitor to the restaurant only. This used to be a place myself and partner would visit as a treat with our parents when younger and hadnt attended the Steer Inn for 4 maybe 5 years before 'treating ourselves' last weekend as a couple. I cant complain about the welcome, which was warm and... more

We arrived on August 09 bank holiday friday for a family wedding, to be greeted by welcoming staff, and good rooms. We dined on friday to a fantastic curry night. After a brilliant night sleep a good breakfast by all. Wedding followed later in day which was great food and company., with excellent service and brilliant night to buffet. Followed... more

I feel compelled to write just to help people avoid this place. As the last reviewer said, there is absolutely no communication between staff, so if you've made a booking, don't expect it to be there when you arrive. Of course this could turn out to be a good thing, and save you the experience of this hole, or it... more

A large group of friends had booked weekend rooms in this hotel for a wedding, we were all staying for Friday and Saturday night. When we called, months later, to check our bookings we were informed that we had not booked for Saturday night at all, in fact the hotel had been booked up for a wedding on that night.... more

Stayed here over the weekend with a small group and found the sevice good, food good and overall a pleasant stay. I have read the other reviews and must say I had an all together experience. The room and decor were not the most up to date but were clean and the bedding was changed daily. Oh and the price... more

A shocking experience for our recent outing into York. The hotel is in desperate need of modernising with typical 1980's decor everywhere (brick walls, brass ornaments, heavy patterned carpets, green bathroom furniture) and very poor cleanliness in every area we saw - rooms, pub (the bed and towels were clean thankfully) and especially the restaurant. We ate in the hotel... more

This makes Fawlty Towers look like the Ritz....We arrived Friday 16 May 2009 in a party of 10 hoping to enjoy our stay while visiting the MX5 Spring Rally event at Elvington Airfield. The rooms where well just about rooms...the carvery that night was the worst I have ever seen, uncooked roast pork, burnt yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes and... more

The problems with this hotel emerged before we even arrived, I phoned the day before arrival to confirm our booking only to be told they had never heard of us. After checking our confirmatory email, and panicking about our arrangements, they eventually offered to put us up in a double room with a camp bed instead of the family room... more
