We stayed for two nights at the Holgate Bridge in mid may. The Holgate is a fair choice for a short visit of York. It is a good basecamp, but not the kind of place where you want to spend too much time, for the room is pretty small, and we had problems opening our two suitcases. The double bed... more

Generally our stay of three nights were okay. breakfast was excellent, main criticisms were towels were not changed (only one towel per person). Bedspread was dirty but sheets were clean. If you have heavy suitcases there is no lift . Overall we were quite happy with our choice and it was perfect for the short walk into York. more

Three of us stayed in the family room for one night. It cost us £30 each. The room was a nice size, one double, two singles, but it was obvious to see that the beadspreads had never been washed on any of the beds, however the sheets and pillowcases did appear clean.
