This was our 6th time at Crook Lodge and was fab! The hotel is very classy decorated and the breakfast is second to none! We are going back again in December and will be returning no doubt next year! It is the best hotel we have stayed in for a long time! more

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Crook Lodge in September 2008. The room we had was lovely, warm and comfortable. Brian, the proprietor, was very helpful and served breakfast where a special order was not too much trouble. He also had very helpful suggestions for restaurants and hotels and things to see in general. The walk into the... more

We enjoyed our two nights at Crook Lodge. The location was perfect...a short walk into the old city. Brian is a helpful host who makes good recommendations on pubs, museums, etc. Breakfast was enjoyable. The room and bath were nice, but it was tight...perhaps the lesson is to take fewer suitcases. more

Crook Lodge was my first B and B experience, I have avoided them due to a fear of feeling like you are staying in someones house. The proprieter Brian was a lovely host, totally the right balance between helpful but unobstrusive, the rooms were compact but beautifully decorated with a lot of Laura Ashley paper and nice touches. For the... more

We stayed here for our yearly romantic break and loved it. The exterior of the property is very well kept and the location was great. Just 1 street away from the museum gardens. Brian, the proprietor was very friendly advising us on fabulous seafood restaurants in York. We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor. It was spacious and... more

We stayed at Crook Lodge to celebrate out anniversary and were really disappointed. We had looked at the website and the rooms looked lovely but when we arrived we were shown to a room far inferior to those we had seen on the internet. They have clearly decorated a couple of rooms and posted these on the internet - can't... more

The Crook Lodge is a great choice for York visitors. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in Room 4. The room was very clean with a king-sized bed but a bit tight. Despite this, we found it be an excellent value for its location and overall comfort. The train track is very close by but we had... more

We selected this B&B based on its own website as it looked - and was - a very genteel guesthouse, with really nice owners. We booked rooms 4 & 5 for 3 nights and while the beds in both were very comfortable (though room 5 is a tiny double room) and the level of cleanliness very high, unfortunately we did... more
